Need suggestions: Replacing the Kaska head-unit in my Honda Civic

My preowned 2012 Honda Civic that I bought in 2014 came with a Kaska head unit which was fitted by the first owner before he took delivery. The unit has now aged, looks old and the screen has a blue tinge on it.

I want to replace the unit now. I saw a 10 inch Android touch screen system but I felt it looked too big on the centre console. Im looking for something that fits in the existing enclosure, as I feel that size is perfect.

Here is what it looks like in my car:

Need suggestions as to what brands I can look at to replace the Kaska system. Budget between 10 to 15k.

Thanks much.

There are various android units available in different screen sizes ranging from 7 inches to 10 inches. You can opt for the one you like. If you are unable to find complete unit for Civic you can buy the bezel separately for screen size you like. I have been using a 10.1 inches in my Civic for some time now. Works great.

If the requirement is 2DIN with Screen mirroring or Android Auto and Apple Car Play, options are
Sony XAV-AX1500 (screen mirroring only)
Sony XAV-AX3200
Blaupunkt New York 750
Pioneer DMH-A345BT (screen mirroring only)
Pioneer DMH-A4450BT
JVC KW-M520BT (Screen mirroring only)

Some are little over 15k

I had a Sony XAV-AX5000 fitted in mine. The price is slightly higher than the budget mentioned but it's definitely worth it. It looks far more premium than pioneer systems and there's no lag as such. There are higher variants that also support web link in case you'd like to access multimedia apps on the system.

Re: Need suggestions: Replacing the Kaska head-unit in my Honda Civic

Have a super dummy question, I want to replace the stock audio head unit of my Ford Fiesta 2007 EXI model, my reasons for that are to have the below functionalities
1. Connect a rear cam to it as reverse camera and display
2. Use it to call over bluetooth as the fiesta doesnt have the steering mounted buttons or mic
3. Use the screen for navigation.
My budget is below 20k, can you guys recommend me something, I stay out of India and planning to get this done when I reach Kerala next month, wondering whether to buy online from Amazon and then get it installed locally or should directly go to some accessory shop if there is not much difference. just don't want to be ripped off.
Not an expert at the size of the audio head unit nor the terminologies, the stock speakers will remain, not really an audiophile.

Consider any of the below HUs. Reverse camera + matting connector + frame should cost another 2~4k depending on the brand and quality

If you are not bothered about warranty and you have a trusted FNG to handle the installation, go with online purchase. Otherwise buy and install from local store.

Thank you, usually how much of a premium over online prices do these accessory shops charge in your experience?

There is no thumb rule. Everything depends on the supply-demand gap and our negotiation skill. There are cases I got a certain non-moving stuff cheaper than online listing and few instances where the price quoted was 10~30% higher than online pricing.

Few stores try to match the online price and others tool their stand on the price and offered free installation.
