Apple CarPlay has been missing from the Mahindra XUV700 ever since it was launched in August 2021. However, according to a media report, the functionality will soon be introduced in the SUV.



The report states that the AX variants of the XUV700 will get Apple CarPlay from August 2022 onwards. The functionality will be installed in existing XUV700s via an OTA update.

At present, the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the XUV700 comes with Android Auto and Alexa AI connectivity. Lower variants get an 8-inch touchscreen



The XUV700 comes with two engine options: 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol producing 197 BHP and 380 Nm and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that makes 182 BHP and 420 Nm (MT) / 450 Nm (AT). Both engines come with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive will also be available as an option.

Kudos to Mahinda!

On one side we have an Indian automaker trying to add features(though a s/w one) on new/retrospective models and on the other hand we have global brands who have access to global supply chains want to drop this or that features all the while raising prices citing semiconductor shortages.

Pandemic, supply chain and semiconductor shortages only boosted corporation's profits further and customers are shortchanged further with inflation and delisting of features.

This sounds like great news. I hope the company follows up on this. Apple CarPlay is a must, OEM media controls are hit and miss at best.
In other news, just booked the XUV700 AX7L Petrol Automatic. However, the expected delivery date is almost 2 whole years away. How accurate is this? Please do let me know

Mahindra XUV700 to get Apple CarPlay from September 5

Mahindra has announced that Apple CarPlay will be available in the XUV700 from September 5, 2022.



Apple CarPlay connectivity feature has been missing from the XUV700 since it was launched in October 2021. It is said that the delay has been caused due to licensing issues.

According to Mahindra, owners can get the feature activated by visiting their nearest authorised service centre. The update will also enable features like enhanced Siri support and navigation rendering on the digital instrument cluster, among others.

Wonder what navigation rendering on instrument cluster means in this case.

If it is like how Apple Maps from carplay can be pulled onto the cluster (dual screen mode) in BMW iDrive 8, that would be a fantastic addition. Most of the mass market cars in India have digital clusters which are sort of disconnected from the rest of the screens. Even having the inbuilt navigation show up with the full map and directions on the cluster would be a start.

This already works on the 7OO with inbuilt apps, icing on the cake will be support for this mode in Google Maps

Finally the wait is over. ASS have started to flash hu and it works pretty good for now.
