Advice needed: Adding a subwoofer to stock audio setup in a VW Polo

Hi all,

Mods: If this is a repeated question please put it in the right thread.

I'd like to add a subwoofer to the stock RCD340G unit on my Polo. I'm planning to keep the stock driver's and just add a subwoofer.
  • First of all, is this possible? I've heard that the stock RCD340G doesn't come with subwoofer line out.
  • If that's the case, is it possible to add a powered subwoofer by tapping the speaker line?
  • What are the pros and cons of such an arrangement?

I was inclined towards powered under-seat subwoofers if that matters. I like the stock system as it is, I just feel like it needs a bit more bass. I'm open to trying a component setup in the front, but I don't want to swap out the stock head unit.

Yes, if the active subwoofer could take high level input. Otherwise a Hi-low converter will be required.
