How to connect iPod with HU through auxiliary cable

Hi,

I tried to search an answer for this but couldn't find any, so posting a new thread. If the answer exists please direct me to there and close this thread.

I too succumbed to iPod's charms and bought a 30 GB one today. Now I want to connect this to my HU - Sony 7610S. This HU support Aux input so I think it should be pretty easy to connect iPod with it.

I live in Noida so please direct me to some installer who will be able to do that, and please tell me what changes etc. will be required. Will I be able to directly connect the HU to iPod through RCA cable or will I have to buy some connectors etc.

Cheers

Nitin

You just need cable to connect your ipod to HU & then change mode from CD or FM to AUX.....

You just need a cable which costs around Rs.100/- It should have a 3.5mm stereo pin on both sides (assuming your HU has a 3.5mm jack for aux in) It can be obtained at any electronics parts shops. You can DIY so there is no need for an installer.

Can you post a pic of AUX in on your player. Is it 3.5mm. If so go to Atta market get a 3.5mm - 3.5mm stereo cable(I am assuming the ipod is also 3.5mm stereo jack)

I think all sony HU's with aux-in have the 3.5mm input port. The ipod also has a 3.5mm port. Juts buy a 3.5mm stereo jack (male both sides) and you can use the ipod with it.

enjoy.

no need for an installer. MX makes this cable (moulded) for about 35 rupees.

Thanx guys. I was able to connect my hi-fi (more than 6 years old Philips) to iPod using 3.5 mm to RCA cable. I bought the cable from Reliance Digital for 200 bucks. They didn't have 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm in stock so wasn't able to connect HU to iPod yesterday. Will do it today.

Cheers

Thanx TSK, I bought a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable from there for 25 bucks. Went to the installer who had fitted my system He told me I will need 3.5 mm to RCA cable for that. He gave me that cable for my 3.5mm to 3.5 mm one plus 20 bucks. Now my HU plays iPod :-) Although the sound quality isn't as good as on CDs or even FM.

Cheers
