LG forays into ICE??

hi, i got to see an ad today in TOI featuring LG ICE products.

when logged into website, found these:

Products--Listing

Anyone here used these and can provide a feedback on HU? appears good.

I had an LG HU in my 800 in 2004. I don't remember the model no and all. Sorry!

It sounded ok with Pioneer speakers. It could play MP3, WMA etc... But file scanning took ages. And there was this huge delay before playing the first track. Once it started playing, then everything was Ok. Another big problem was it used to do this everytime the car was switched off and on. It had a bling display which gave id3 information.
It also had a removable face.

It stopped working one day. It couldn't take in cds. I didn't bother about it for more than a month and then the car was sold with the thingy inside.

It was very cheap HU anyway. Cost me less than 250 UAE dirhams (2.7k when converted to INR). Which means it was worth it's money then.

I dunno about their newer lineup. But my kinda HUs are very much avoidable.

Oh i see....and i thought LG was pretty new to ICE. never heard/seen them before....

Oh so Adire has made their public announcement.

Well, I don't see LG making any public announcements. And why can't they make car audio? For a company that makes TV's, Baby shampoo, plastics and vinyls, floor coverings and mobile phones?

I suppose it will be typical LG. Cheap and decent. But I don't see them in the league of Pioneer Blaupunkt etc.

More in the league of Intex, Dhoom, Yamato, Motorjoy(samsung) etc. Here they can easily become market leaders in this segment.

I suspect the LG units wont be all that bad. We will be testing one soon.

I don't think Sony head units are that bad actually. I would not compare them to LG, I know Sony HU's a pretty good.

What I believe are pathetic are sony car speakers. Not so much their amplifiers and HU's. Considering what the amps cost, I think they're just fine.

I will wait for Gunbir's report on the LG HU.
