PROBLEMO...speakers stop workin at low vol!!

i have fit a Sony Gt260 HU on my getz 1.1, paired it with JBL 6" spkrs (CS series) up front and sony 6" coax at the back.. fit them in standard provided for slots on doors... well
initially their was a loose connection and only one speaker ended up workin!! the accessories guy said it was due to a loose audio harness at stereo end..
now when i switch the system on, most often two speakers aren't workin..Front left and rear right, once i increase the volume , they start workin again!! agaun they do switch off often, but increasin the volume makes them start workin again.. infact even if i inc vol and then reduce it, they still works!!
besides, i have this feeling that the left side is a little louder.. is that natural?

1. When was the ICE installed and by whom?
2. Didn't the accessory guy try doing anything about it? Was he not the installer?

The problem could be oxidation of the contacts between the HU and the housing connectors. Take the HU out (not the GI housing) and clean the contacts with a hard eraser. The manual should contain instructions how to take the HU out.

The left could sound louder either due to the BALance setting or due to the speakers' angle relative to the way you sit (see if it is the same at all seat back tilt settings of the driver seat)

hey..well, sorry yet to change profile.. not bangalore, im in cal now..so is the dealer
the accesories guy onl was the installer.
well, balance fader is set at zero only.. there was a harness problem initially.. well, i'll try removing the set..
besides, the speakers weren't jack on fitting, the guy cut wires right behind the jack and used the conventional tape method..
the left side louder issue is experienced from all seating points in the car..
thanks for the help guys

the speaker wire or its connector are at fault her. Get them checked.

If the problem is with the OEM wire get it changed by laying separate speaker wire.

1. check all contacts and wiring (check for shorts, intermetent contact failure etc. if nesscary solder each connection).
2. with a voltmeter check each speaker (my guess is this will be ok but I wnat to know)
3. test system with another HU.

I had the same problem, only, the problem was with my amp. It was a dry soldering problem and a complete resoldering of all relavent contacts rectified it.

sounds much tighter now, and no loose connections!
but, alas.. seems i got fooled with the rear speakers, they are fake sony!!
guess i'll put in a complain with sony, atleast for the shoddy install they did...

Actually most speakers sound better than real sony, so I would believe you navin. Honestly, even Dhoom and Fusion speakers sounded much better to me.

That is awesome!

This happened once when I was at a car accessories shop while getting something my friend's car:

This chap bought a Sony HU for his Alto. The dealer suggested Pio 6X9's and this fellow had an apprehension that Pio speakers would not suite his Sony HU. The dealer took out a pair of Sony 6X9's and promptly got them installed. Once installed, the guy was so excited, he bought a pair of sony components (had never heard of them before that incident) and insisted on having a Sony amplifier. The dealer mentioned the unavailability of Sony amps and the customer was almost about to return every component he'd purchased from the dealer. Some people really need to use their ears!

Sure, and also what's in between. But then, dopamine acts strangely for many people - suppresses certain parts of the brain, including logic and common sense.
