blaunpunkt speakers

hi,

After lot of research and feedback from bhpians I have decided to go with pioneer P-880 HU. But havent been able to find a set of speakers. I was seriously contemplating on 'DLS' but it wont be a nice idea to have it without audition . Had heard that blaunpunkt has a very sweet and laid back kind of sound ( which i am in search of) , especially its 'velocity' range.

Went to a shop in tvpm, but they are reluctant to offer an audition. So would like to have your opinion on blaunpunkt s' 'velocity' speakers.

Velocity is more laid back than JBL and Hertz Energy but the sound has bit of a metallic twang. I would consider something that has a silk dome tweeter (a la Infinity, Hi-Energy, etc...) if you really want to have a laid back sound. THen there are brands that are so laid back that if not coupled with the right electronics sound un-inspiring. Another brand to consider is Focal (sweet but not irritatingly bright or harsh).

I'm told Focals are really bright.

I have not heard Hi-energy but I am told they are more laid back than Energy.

As far as Focal goes. why not listen to them and see if they work for you.

In the end you must trust YOUR ears.

If you like laid back sound, give Illusions and DLS ( higher models) a try...I have heard both Illusions and DLS ( I Have) there treble is very smooth and not at all bright.

Blaupunkt VS JBl

JBL GTO series are far better than blaupunkt GT series. blau veloctiy series is very costly and there are other options available in that price band

They're not in the same price range, GT series from Blau are VFM and they could be compared to the CS series in JBL. However, the 'better' part is something very debatable depending on the listener's taste.

The newer range of Blau velocity is not very impressive. I like my old velocity components more better. For that price, there are more better products available.
DLS iridiums are very good sounding speakers and also costs a lot like any good product. What are the grey prices of these? Where're you getting them from?

Has anybody heard the new Alpine Type S and E components? Type E seems like a serious competition to JBL components. Their prices are yet to be published though.

What would be the budget for the speakrs... Just as Good things coem in all shapes and sizes so do good speakers come in all price ranges.... form the humble 5k component to the exotic 4000 dollar BE's ... if the max budget is provided..we can suggest a few options...
A word of caution---you will probably end up sending twice as much

I agree about the Blau Velocty. The present generation is not worth it.

I have heard Alpine Type R. Nice stuff.

Comps? Seriously??

I have a friend who's crying to put a set of those critters away. He bought them from abroad without auditioning after reading on some message boards that they're relaxed and laid back. Farthest from that actually. They're up for sale. He also owns a Skoda. Want to transfer from one to another?
