Aah, that is a splendid, splendid idea! Will ask Mumbaiya to try and call for it if he can alongwith the rest of the gear.

No, the ND8 is not supported in any way by the door frame, neither is the rear wave of the 8" routed into the door cavity. But the ND 8 is a very light driver for an 8", also the panel is highly stiffened. Even with the 8" playing full range there is no vibration in the door panel.

Isolating is a problem because there is a huge opening in the center of the door frame which could not be covered with the damping without the damping sagging or standing the chance of sticking to the window winder. So even if the 8" is isolated at the point of insertion, the rear wave still makes its way into the area formed between the door panel and the frame.
hi ajay,

nice work.

where is the rear wave of the 8" routed then? can you post a pic of the insides of the door panel and the back of the modded door panel? that would help us to understand the installation better. :-)

cheers

You dont have to route the rear wave of teh ND8 as long the ND5 is "protected" from them. The ND5 operates only 450Hz+ so using the XTC baffles wont affect their response.
