Economy USB Head-Unit.

Hi everyone. It's nice to be back after a long time..

First of all a piece of advice for all ice newbies....Stay away from sony!!
(The gurus already know this...and now , so do I.)
The brand new Sony CDX6800 VCD HU I had died on me after just 2 months of use ....I didnt even have a warranty it cos it was grey and bought from Mumbai.
And the best part is that when I tried to get it repaired from sony in delhi ...they asked Rs.4800/- as part costs and 500 as handling charges...total = 5300/-, nearly the cost of a brand new set . And as an added benefit to it's esteemed customer ie.... me , they were not ready to give a warranty on parts replaced by them . Not even for a single day !
So I have decided to get rid of the HU altogether.

I'm getting a new Sony MP3 HU with USB Port for Rs.5500/- in the grey market (Lajpat Nagar , Delhi) but I just wont go with Sony anymore.

So will the ICE wizards please suggest a good HU under RS.7000/- with USB Port. I dont mind the grey market stuff cos this time I'll get it from delhi itself but "USB Port is a must".

Thanks in Advance....

I got a Sony HU with a USB Port. I got it for Rs. 9k with manufacturer's warranty for two years.
Model: Sony Xplod GT460US

I have had no problems with the sound and functions etc. But I am not a big audio guy. I found this HU as a budget unit with front USB and warranty.

Here is a link to the same:
Sony India : CDX-GT460US (CDXGT460US) : Details

Thanks
Saurabh

One of the fellow members that I know picked up a Blaupunkt Hamburg MP57 for 15K. It has the USB port and it is blue tooth compatible.

If you can add a couple of grand more you could go for pioneer 7950 without bill & warranty.

I was also thinking of Pio 6950. Can someone tell me the grey market price in delhi and the price from dealer with bill & warranty ???

Another point I want to clarify is that can I plug my Ipod directly into the HU or do I need messy cables along with it

IIRC in another thread ICE GURU's had said that

5950 and 6950 is usb ready but it needs a adapter to make it usb enabled where as 7950 is usb built in no need for any adapter and it has usb socket built in the HU...
