Guys, i need your help.

i have a 2 channel sony amplifier lying with me. it was earlier installed in my brothers esteem. is it advisable to install an amplifier?

when i spoke to a local dealer here in chandigarh, he suggested me to buy a new set of wiring (cost rs 850) reason being that old wiring tend to get carbon deposits in it.

is it true and what if i use the old wiring - will it affect performance?

i have a sony HU (52 x 4 W)

speakers - blaupunkt gtx 693 (50w)

Carbon Deposits! Wow! tell him that in taht case he can use the depoits to Date the amp. In short your dealer is talking through his hat.

Yes the old copper wire might have some corrosion but if it good why not clean it and use it. If you feel the need for better wire you can buy that too but the old wire will be fine for starters.

Thanks navin.

being a novice i would require more advise from you.

i would also like to know whether there is a ready to use amp setting manual available coz there is a dearth of 'audio' amp setters in chandigarh.

It is advisable to use amp. Carbon dep is all non sense.

The wire may be frayed or something, sound quality may take a hit if the wiring is not good. Fix it and listen and if you are ok save that money for something better.

These new set of wiring for 850/- is ridicoulous. You would be just fine. go ahead.

Yes. It is always a good idea to add amplification to your system.
The 850/- wiring kit, though, is a sure shot Con Job.

Is it BOSS by any chance?

Yes. That is very true and frustrating. Infact, so much that a friend had to come down from Chandigarh to Ludhiana to get the install of his dream in his Swift.
You can check out the topic in this section only. DIY SQ install.

P.S.>> As you will notice on seeing the topic, you simply DONT have any good installer anywhere in Punjab. That is why, we had to go down the DIY route too.

Crutchfiled used to publish a manual for setting up a car audio system. I donated mine to my installer in 1995. Anyway most of this is plain common sense and all you need to use is your ears.
