JBL Vs Xplod for my setup

hi guys,

boo is back... after some analysis from my friend gopz not me, here comes my estimation:

just to make u remember me, here is my requirement:
1. budget arround 10k (now extended after seeing gopz rocking system)
2. want to only play my ipod
3. want 4 speakers for my maruti 800.

so after you people suggestions, i decided to go for blaupunkt GTA 475, which is not available in grey market but with bill for 10k which itself is my budget. So decided to go for this setups. Want your valuable suggestions on this:

A. JBL setup

1. JBL Amp - 5400
2. JBL GTO 937 (6" x 9") for back - 3000
3. JBL 2165C components for front - 2500
4. HU with AUX-IN (used) - 1000
5. wiring -500
---total : 12,400

B. Sony Xplod setup

1. Sony Xplod (3 months used) - 3000
2. JBL GTO 937 (6" x 9") for back - 3000
3. JBL 2165C components for front - 2500
4. HU with AUX-IN (used) - 1000
5. wiring -500
---total : 9,500

now A or B? i like to save money for my future too, does this 2.2k extra money for JBL over sony Xplod is worthy? Waiting for your replies guys...

Can you please tell us the JBL amp model no. I would bet my money on JBL but if your ears are satisfied with Sony go for it.

Hi boo. lol.

Could you tell us the model number of the explode? 3k for a 2 channel amp would be too much.

The JBL amplifier (which one, again?) costs more but is very good VFM. Since you are on a very tight budget, you may consider the sony amplifier. Shouldn't be an issue. However, if you can afford it, get the JBL.

What HU is it? And wiring at 500/-? Make sure they're atleast decent quality ones (like MX RCAs).

P.S: Please read the announcements and rules section. The maximum number of smileys allowed per post is 2.

hi guys,

this is the model numbers:

sony XM -554ZR for sony explode 4 channel
JBL CS 60.4 for JBL 4 channel

I will get some HU cassette player (some branded) with AUX-IN for my ipod, i hope this won't be responsible for the sound as amplifier plays the part.

and guys i forgot the rule when posting it and tried to remove it after posted but couldn't do it even using the edit option..sorry for that.

@boo3dmax
2. JBL GTO 937 (6" x 9") for back - 3000
For such a low price. Checkout if this is with bill n warranty...
Coz MRP on the Original GTO box is around 4995 Rs...

JBL is the obvious better choice dude, That sony amp does not deserve to drive those speakers.

Since you are on a tight budget i think sony would be a better option...
I dont think sony XM-554ZR is that bad, agree that it is not as good as JBL but i feel it is VFM. I have heard few setups with this amp and JBL speaker and they sounded good.
BTW I suggest you use the saved money to buy a good wiring kit, believe me it will make a lot of difference in SQ.

Guys, as most of the senior BHPians know ICE seldom needed moderation. Please try to keep it this way.

OT posts also have boundaries (often even our OT posts are related ot audio if not car audio and that is ok); was all this talk of Ms. Kaif and Ms. Powar reall needed?

my mistake navin, to post Kaif v/s Pawar....i apologize, lets not be OT.

@Boo....JBL would be surely a better bet anyday. Sony and JBL are two uncomparables in the terms of build, quality, price and overall VFM. I'd suggest you go for JBL. Though slightly expensive, JBL 60.4 would anyday be a better one than Sony 554. Since, you are on a tight budget, you may opt for JBL 937 grey, but let me assure that you are still paying 100-200 more. JBL grey prices in Delhi are between 2700-2800.
Hope it helps.
