H.U from U.S

hi members in bit of a confusion,heard from one of my friend that H.U from U.S won't be able to receive FM stations over here while another friend told me it will work fine over here

Depends on the HU...some have FM tuning some have only AM tunning....you need to see if its Europe compatible...if it is, it will work in India

Just make sure that your HU will work in Europe where they use both even and odd freq. (such as 91.0) US only uses Odd freq. (98.3, 93.7 etc..) Some time back there is a thread discussing al this.

I was under the same confusion when LBM told that there is an option in Menu when you can switch over the frequencies, yes it is HU dependent feature.

That's an HU dependent feature, a lot of Alpine's feature both modes which you can change by changing the "Area" settings.

Another way can be to check it's online mannual and compare it to european HU's?? Or ask the seller itself,If ur buying it from online

Hah! Do you expect all those dumb american ebay sellers to know this? No way!

Yes, a better idea would be, as I used to do.... Choose your product after listening, list all the queries,call/chat with Crutchfield and resolve and then proceed to ebay for buying.

In a quandary guys as i had received a mail from crutchfield saying that Alpine H.U do not come with european tuning so Fm wont work over here,but recently FATAL3RROR got a Alpine 9883 from crutchfield and the Fm is working fine over here

What is a good site to buy HUs/Speakers/Amps from the States?

Yeah Fatal even some members suggested it won't work over here as the H.U's from U.S tune in differently,complete confusion

its a HU dependent feature, NOT brand dependent....

@veb: it has been discussed quite a lot. ebay, etronics, amazon,bigbuycity, circuitcity, sonicelectronix etc

Bought one MP3 player with FM and it said clearly that FM is not ment for Europe and its working perfectly in India .
