Try purchasing an old model just when a new model is announced . You should be able to get a bargain.

I have Pioneer 2950 - without Bill & Warranty, costs around 4000-4500.
I have one & am very happy with it. I have 4 Sony Xplod speakers (entry level, I think total cost Rs.3200, don't remember) attached to it.

JVC G-334 for 3300 (grey)

Pioneer 2950 is one of the best buys !

Nothing can match it's overall quality at that price range.

The cheapest head unit is 2950 from pioneer or if you dont mind the brand you can get auzo for 2.5K

I think JBL headunit is the cheapest. It's free, because they don't make any head units.

OK chal full PJ, I'm leaving.

JBL belongs to the cheapest HU money cant buy category...:-)

2950 is the best in this segment i think. Around 3000 bucks without B&W

Can you hook up a 4 channel amp (feeding a pair of ocmponent speakers and a Sub) to the 2950? Would it (and do all HUs) have the feature to control the sub level?

I dont think the 2950 has two sets of Pre-outs for the Components and the sub.
But, Im guessing U can amplify either one of those.

Get a PIO 2950. Costs 2.9k to 3.3k without B&W. It has 1 pre-out. But you can take the speaker level outputs to power the components via amp if your amp has speaker level input option.

You may also try looking for boss, auzo, megaaudio, intex, dapic etc.. In the lineup of non standard range of brands.

I would recommend a Y splitter instead of using speaker level inputs. The sound quality would be better. Fading cant be done bet sub and comps but a little bit of magic can be done with the tuning. I have tried speaker level inputs and was not satisfied.

2950 is a great buy.
I have it in my Baleno with a four channel JVC amp but the Fader and Balance doesn't work.

Fader must be because of single pre-out. But I wonder why the Balance isn't working  Time to check the connections?
