I recently installed a new Sony GT460U in my Ford Fusion (Petrol). The unit keeps switching off momentarily and resetting itself every few minutes when I am driving. This NOT just when I start the engine or anything.

I didnt observe any electrical problem with any other component in the car (lights, AC).

I tried having the whole thing rewired, changed the system and the panel - but I still have the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nirmal

Do you have a warranty? Have you tried another HU?

You mean another HU same model? Yes - that didnt work. Its under warranty - the dealer changed every thing - wiring, system, panel... that didnt help...

could be a bad ground or positive wire. try to install a new ground near the HU console. and please ask your install to check the positive wires(battery and accessory).

cheers

They rewired everything twice, so I am guessing they must have checked that. But I will have them check again...thanks!

try a Pio HU. any one.

If another HU hadn't been tried one would have suggested why don't you (or your installer) unmount the HU, connect a battery to it OUTSIDE the car and check if it does the same thing. Could have been a dry soldering problem, but this cannot happen with 2 HUs.

Otherwise, connect a lamp (yes, any automotive 12V lamp) to the reset wire (I think it is a red with yellow strip or the other way around) that is coming to the HU. This signal is supposed to go ON when you turn the key to crank the engine. If the lamp goes on intermittently WITHOUT you cranking the engine, there is some locha in that wire.

Another way the installer could check would be to disconnect only that wire and play the HU.

They did try checking by fixing a bulb and it didnt blink! Now here is something curious I discovered today - when I start the system, I turn the volume down to 0 and then slowly (not in one go) - increase the volume one notch by one wiaitng a couple of seconds before increasing every notch - when I do this, the system does not restart!

I am not sure about this - I will try to do this a couple of times and see what happens...

I saw this one on JC Rd too- dealer is car jewel...

the earlier post was meant for another thread sorry about that...

I had a false alarm with the low volume story - that didnt work. my system still resets randomly.
