Hi frends,

Can u plz suggest if its worth repairing the voice coil for subwoofer...one guy is selling his woofer and said the voice coil needs to be changed...he said it will cost arnd 300-400 bucks to change the voice coil....

I wanted to know if there would be any change in the music quality by locally changing the voice coil...is it possible to change the voice coil??

wat do u guyz think....how much would it affect the quality of sound??

But this change will replace the OEM voice coil and
1. Hard to match impedance of OEM.
2. Voice quality will be degrated if not properly fitted (diameter of coil and space). It should not rub anywhere from inside.
3. Voice coil is fitted in exact middle location of max magnetic field. So it will be sensitive. Same time full displacement of cone should be achieved (called Xmax).
4. Quality of adhesive must be good and used with proper quantity. Otherwise it will blow out.
5. Are you replacing cone, spiders too?? It will also affect Xmax and audio quality.
6. Finally quality of voice coil will have impact on RMS Wattage and heat dissipated by it.

OOpps... decide now

given all that, buying a new sub would be recommended.
