I will power the sub with the amp, also i intend to put the sub under one of the seats. Is it a good idea to put the sub under the seat?

JVC KD-AVX44 is a new HU in the market which I bought recently and is pretty good with almost all the latest features in it. More details in my thread

Other than this, there are some good Alpine HU's also. Search the forums. You will be able to get some info on these.

If importing I would import HU, AMP and not speakers and woofers. As the weight of the speakers will attract freight. As when I had imported my subs (IDMAX) I had to give approx Rs 10000. But still they costed cheaper when compared here.

Choose the components wisely. Do not go with other recommendations. First listen then buy.

Stay away from it. There are better products in the market.

You could buy the 6050 in India for around 9k.

If your buying in the USA and willing to look beyond the big three (Sony,Pioneer,Alpine) check out Clarion!

I would not take it that way. I would suggest to go to few shops listen to few HU`s like Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, Panasonic etc then decided. Check out there features, menu, looks also.

Models change from time to time and every person has a different opinion's. So go to a car accessory shop you know and try the few models and order them from US.

Which AMP and COMP to buy from US

Hi All,

I have a friend who is going to US and i would like to source a Amp or a set of Comps, (or both) from there. I would need your advice on this as to which one should i go for.

My requirment is that i need something like 80 + RMS per chl, perfebably a 5 chl one as i dont want to buy a Mono then. Now once i have a good amp, then i would need a good set of Comps to run on them, so they should be able to handle power of 80+ RMS.

My buget would be around 15K for each (total 30K).

Also my other concern is, does it make sense to buy a normal 4chl amp from India (e.g Kenwood 8401 or somthing like that), and buy a good Mono amp from US. In this case i would not buy the 5 chl amp then cause i can buy the 4 chl amp from here and source a mono from US. Which do you think is a better deal???

Please help

Hey Nitin,

I am currently researching the same question myself :-). I am in the US now and thinking of getting an amp and components over here.

I have been researching amps and currently there is one I am interested in; KAC-X4R. The main reason I am interested in this is the fact that it has TA built-in. Most car these days have integrated stereo. My i10 and civic both have integrated stereos and changing them takes away the look.

I am not sure of the quality of the amp though. I have seen decent reviews. Anybody here has first hand info?

i was also looking at 5 channel amplifiers but didn't have anyone to get it from USA.
you can source Blaupunkt THA555 PnP (THA555PnP) or JBL GTO5355 for 299$/15k.
personnely i will prefer to spend little more to increase the mono power and buy Alpine PDX-5 for 450$ or Rockford Fosgate POWER-1000 for 499$.
this is the cheapest place-
5-Channel or more Amps | Car Amplifiers | Car Audio and Video at Sonic Electronix
