ICE for my WagonR

Hi,
Today my WagonR has been delived, BUT I have not see it soo far, as I am working in the office

But have also been reading a lot on this great forum, after reading a lot, I am more confused over what to decide.

My budget 10-12K; need a complete ICE set. Need your suggestions on the following:
1. HU (front usb and file explorer view are MUST)
2. Front speakers (i think 4"); please suggest model no.
3. Rear Speakers.
4. Should I go for a rear Tray? I don't mind it. Or Boxes?
(If a rear tray, should it be WOODEN or FIBER)

I need good sound quality and quantity (LOUD) setup. I do not want to spend too much, but how about getting a bass tube? (how much will it cost) and also please suggest a good AMP (along with price)

I know Bass tube and AMP will not come under 10-12K, so, please only suggest the model and price. I will see if I can stretch to cover that or not.

Any Dealers you would suggest, for good deals, from South Delhi...

Thanks a TON!

Budget

Mere Veer, Your budget is too low . as you said that u need a usb HU, i think that only (pio 7950) comes for 8-9k (grey). then you also need money for
  1. speakers
  2. amp
  3. bass tube or sub
  4. wiring
  5. fitting etc
all this cant be done in 12 k .or build your setup step by step

Dealers in South delhi DRIVEN Contact Gunbir Sir Here

waiting for your reply...

If you want LOUD setup with AMP, SUB etc, you will need to stretch your budget to 25-30k. If you are OK with that, we can give you a lot of options...

how dumb of me, I am ready to spend ~15 to 17K

hmmmm that sounds logical.

I think, I will go by the step by step approach.
What Hu should I go for, USB is a must for me. I am getting this from the
Car dealer (ALLIANCE MOTORS, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi) right now:
HU :: CDX-GT460 for 9000/= with bill -- this model has a front USB and AUX
From Speakers: XS-GM1020 for 1546/= with bill
Rear Speakers: XS-GM for 6930 with bill

... and it is coming out to be 17,476, which is fine for me. I am sorry, I initally thot, I was buying it all for 12K

Just for clarification, I simply wanted to know the price for the Bass Tube and the AMP. In case I might want to get them in future...

So, now my question is, the deal that I am getting right now, is it fine? Or would you suggest me something better in the same range...

And if you, ask me to increase my budget I will have to drop some items for the next pay day

Ohh.. Should I go for a Tray at the back (wooden or fiber) or get boxes?

i'll not advise Sony. Stay Away.
You might want to have a look at JVC then. But if you can go till 17K. stick to pio

get some nice speakers though. in your budget it will be co axials for the front and rear. would cost around 4-5K JBL or Blaupunkt

no Amp for you.

For the tray go for a 1" thick MDF tray.

This should cost you about 16K

Step By Step Method Is Best

According to me . you should go with this setup first

HU - Pio 7950 ---> 8-8.5 k (without b/w)
Rear Fill - Jbl Gto 937 ---> 3 k (with 1 year warrenty but without bill)
Front - Jbl/hertz ? Wait for gurus to hit this thread
wiring --->2k
Custom MDF tray ---> 1-1.5k.
Total 15k + front components = ?

After that when you get your next salary, purchase a good amp. Then on your next salary, get a sub and give me a party (i am in delhi too)why are you considering a bass tube ? according to me go for a sub in a box made according to your taste.

and please no Sony,no Sony,no Sony,no Sony,no Sony .

Chaos, IMO for 17.5k, you can get a better setup. Sorry, but the HU and rear speakers are hilariously overpriced.

I would suggest:
Pioneer 7950: 9k
Front components (you don't have too many here): Illusion Electra 4.1
Rear: Illusion Co-axials (I would suggest the same brand)
(You may contact Bass&Trouble for Illusions)
Amplifier: JBL GT5 4-channel amplifier: Approx 7k
Sub: CS1204T (Tube) for approx 6k or CS1204 in a custom box for 4.5k

You would end up spending more than 17.5k, but this will provide you a loud setup.

First a HUGE thanks for all the information gurus.

Yesterday, I went to a shop at Yashwant place ("palika" opposite Hyatt Hotel) and got the following deal, for the same setup as being provided by my dealer: (actually, my agent took me to this place, and said they will take care of warranty thing).

HU Sony 460 (fonrt usb & aux) -- 5100 (grey) OR 8090 (with B/W)
Front Speakers XS-GM1020 -- 700 (Grey) and 1200 (with B/W)
Rear Speakers (sony xplod, dont know the exact model no. but the said it is 400W) -- 2000 (grey) OR 2900 (with b/w)

Do I really need to take the Speakers the warranty?

Now here comes the trick part, THE INSTALLATION.
Maruti (or ALLIANZ MOTORS) says that if I get any electrical stuff from outside, my warranty will be void.
My agent says, that the shop, where he took me to, will do everything properly so no tension about warranty. But still gives out some words of caution.

Its my first car, and have no clues how to take care of the warranty thing. I am too worried to get things done from anyone outside. I might just end up being a dumb customer of maruti and buying all their highly overpriced MGA (Maruti Genuine Accessories) just keep the warrant thing intact....

GURUS, where are you..

Warranty is not voided

Hi!!! I just showed the wagonR owner's manual to a lawyer (honest!!!) and made him read the warranty terms. He says that there are some clauses which are extra wide "catch alls" ("no warranty for liquid seepages", no warranty for trivial complainta etc) which are best ignored. He confirms that there is nothing specific about warranty being voided if ICE is installed. There is provision for installing ICE, and that means the manufacturer is OK with ICE being installed.

Being owner of a vehicle himself, he recommended that good installers put some connectors when the wires are cut so that no loose contacts. That practise does not void the warranty.

Now here is another wagonR ICE question (hope I do not hijack your thread):-

What speakers should I go for if I am putting just two, in the stock place on the dash of my wagonR?

@ cha0s4u

> With a front USB input option, I advice you to have a look at JVC KD 634 which should cost you around 5600(grey, without B & W), instead of Sony.
I've installed it in my Getz and is "OK", but better than Sony.
Only "OK" because it doesn't have Sub Woofer control...

> Go for a Wooden tray with foam layer and matting. It should absorb vibrations better than fibre tray. It cost me 900 bucks.

> An entry Sub Tube will cost you around 5.5K (blaupaunkt, I don't know the model number, it comes with B & W) or a JBL CS1204T @ 6K (with B & W).

I gave you my suggestions, but let the Gurus have their say which should guide you much better...
