ICE up my Getz Prime 1.1 GVS!

First to clear off all your queries!

My Car- Getz Prime 1.1 GVS

My Budget- 15000 for now, can spend about 5000 later!

Right now it is chauffer driven but I will drive it from next year cause of some license problems!

My Music Preference- Pink Floyd, Nirvana, GNR, Metallica, U2, Cradle of Filth, Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, etc etc but my parents will listen to bollywood or classicals. So EVERYTHING!

I will not sacrifice bootspace or anything!

My father will buy this system. Since the car is just about a month an half old, he is not keen on investing too much right now. So it's like He will spend about 15,000 right now and can add a bit later on next year. So it looks like either the amplifier or the subwoofer would be on hold. So what do you says guys? Is Sony Xplode really that bad?

P.S. Mods, I know there is a similar thread ( http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/ask-gu...z-iced-up.html) but please post this thread cause the budget is a bit different and I have some queries to clear up!

17K will get you basic HU (5K), Front components (6K) and amp (7K). then for 4K you can get a pair of 6x9 coax for the rear.

the list of brands are available on that other thread.

Some Xplod Head Units have known read issues, which many members (including me) have experienced. Sony speakers are below average and can be safely kept out of the list. Even though listening is the key, Sony products can be avoided since there are better options available.

jbl is good vfm. for headunits you can choose between alpine and pioneer

for speakers jbl is a good choice

apline amplifiers are good, but for your budget it may not fit. stick with jbl.

For speakers and amplifiers, for your budget - it is a better bet. Even though no setup is better than another or "best".

visit a few dealerships and listen to a few setups like front components and a subwoofer in rear, front components and 6x9 co-axials in rear/with amp/without amp. visit alpine, blaupunkt, jbl and other showrooms. carry a CD of your favourite songs and ask them to play that very CD. this way you'll get some idea of tonal qualities of different brands. then let us know which ones sound good.

play and navigate with Head Units. see which ones are user friendly to you. menus would be same for the brand, features would differ, and we can come to that later. there isn't much choice in HU... alpine, jvc, blau, sony, pioneer, kenwood... among the standard ones easily available.

6X9 co-axials are oval speakers that have the woofer and tweeter together. 6" X 9" is the size of the speaker.

Here, I'm sure you've seen speakers like these:

Yes, it will be a good system for your budget. You can get:
Pio 4950 - Approx 5k
GTO 507/607 components for the front at Approx 5/6k
GTO 937s (seen in picture above) for 4-5k.
You'll need an MDF tray for the 6X9s and that'll cost you 1k. Plus install, which could be covered by discounts.

You can audition other brands like Blau, Hertz, Illusion before deciding on them. Availability in Kolkata would not be an issue for JBL and Blau - not sure about the other two.

Here is the link to their site: JBL - harman/kardon - Infinity - Denon ProDJ | FX Audio | Dealers in India...
