Jerish, why don't you tell us your budget so that we can start?

To start with, how about the Alpine-9965 HU? Costs $1600.

Awrighty. Sorry, I did not notice the 9830 in your post.

I somehow feel that all your friends from TVM and Kochi will make sure you'll get the Hertz HSKs and Audisons.

Jerish if you are looking for pure sound quality and not particularly concerned about pricing, there are better options available... Just PM gunbir. Dynaudio is one thing you might want to look at.

Also like FB I'm curious as to what your home setup is.

depends on your preference. my mom prefered Infinity over everything we made her hear, I am toying with the idea (read as saving up for) Illusion Carbons. In the end it is personal preference.

You might want to consider the Genesis Profile series 4-channel amplifier as well

Hi!,
Why dont you go in for :
The latest Alpine HU.
Focal 165K2P for the fronts
Focal Polyglass 690CV1
Focal 5.500 power amp &
Focal K2 Sub 27KX sub

As you listen to Jazz and have been exposed to hi-end audio at home, you will love the Focals. The Dyns are also very good but do not have the warmth thats needed for Jazz.

You can replace the 165K2P with the Utopia Be Kit No-6 from Focal.

I too listen to Jazz & Blues and have decided on the same set up for my Octy.

I would like to say that Illusion Carbons are one of the best component speaker I have heard. If you can try auditioning them also before finalizing.

IMO, you need to audition at least Infinity, Illusion, Hertz (which you already have) and a few others before finalizing.
