Ladies/Gentlemen.
This installation is not new from scratch , Its rather a tweaking up of my existing unit with more bass. Basically I have just added a sub and an amplifier to my existing set up.
My taste for music is pretty wide and my listening style is pretty relaxed so some disturbance here and there is fine , all I needed was non boomy deep bass . Even without the sub the 6 X 9's were doig a good job of firing the lows. They sounded pretty okay (atleast to me). Then one fine day Blue reaven had put up a pair of Sub in the MArket section . I am a big alpine freak , I donnow the reason for the same but I do know that everytime I see that name around it arouses some kinda #$%'s in me .
So I bought one of the Sub's and got them transported to my place by a fellow Bhpian JK (Thank you JK and now you can narrate on that story later on) . Anyway after getting the sub I was in splits whether to install it in my present car (8 year old Budda (not buddha) and her name is Fiat Siena) as am getting another car very soon.
After thinking and rethinking a million (by under-estimation) times I decided to install it , so I called up the ICE lords of Gods Own country (AKA SPEEDZAK and HYDRA-ASHOK) and finally zeroed in on ALpine's cutey 300 watts amplifier . The next day I started off for EKM to install my subbie but to my "good" luck I discovered the amp being out of stock half way down the journey .Now am back at square one :deadhorse .
Soon it struck me that my days with my car are numbered (am not dying..its my car !) so I decided to install the next best option available . Again I made a quick call to the ICE lords and finally got the green signal for 4060 . Thats it ! JBL 4060 it is ! I was slightly disappointed coz I really wanted an ALPINE not that I know anything bad about JBL . Got the system installed the next day. Soon after completion a quick auditioning exposed all the weak links in the set up. The bass was sounding undefined(donnow whether its the right term) but deep . Infact it was real deep in some tracks . I was impressed but the bass still sounded flat (again..the same). Called up Hydra after that and decided to get the car there so that he can personally fine tune the amp. I did that and he didnt disappoint me. Apparently my installed had set the gains too high , anyway after the tune up it was sounding more to my liking infact I am really liking it .
Finally I would like to conclude by expressing my sincere thanks to all who had helped me and Hydra , thanks for the CD's . They are awesome.
Existing Set up :
Head unit :
Alpine CDE 9845EM

Rear Speaker :
Alpine sps 690A coaxials

Front Speaker :
Alpine 1005 tweeter.

..and to this existing set up I added
Sub woofer :
Alpine SWS 1242 DVC
Amplifier :
JBL GTO 4060

Separate connectors for both voice coils

Hey Max, that looks like a nice setup you got there. So Hydra did his magic huh? I hope to get a listening session when I come to JK's wedding in Dec.
Enjoy the music pal!
Offtopic: Do I still see some leftover fried rice and pappadams on your boot ;) ?

pappadams from our last Tea estate meet :)
Thats a big box. Hows the sub? My Blau couldnt even tickle that sub :(
What is the spec of that amp?
1. no front speakers? just tweeters?
2. why are the seat belts in the trunk?
Congrats max, your setup looks interesting. Zak and Hydra are good at luring people into upgrades, aren't they? :p
BTW, where are the other pictures?

I was about to edit my post to ask the same question. This is a redundant post by mistake.
Sorry mods.
After almost 189 days after your plans, finally it got installed. Eh? rl:
Congrats!
Will hear it as soon as I land back in God's own country.

150 X 2 RMS @ 4ohms . So its adequate for each coil.

seat belts are int trunk coz Siena's rear seatbelts aren't the pull out ones. Its a static type where you'll have to adjust the loops to get it comfortable, so basically the whole thing lies on the seat which looks very messy. More over I usually travel alone 95% of the time.
No front speakers yet but am connecting a Hertz and a 4-ch Alpine soon. For the time being am going to add a pair of nice co-axials.

That would be awesome, but I can already hear some moderator lock and load.
It looked like there are more pictures from the install, especially the finished ones - that's what I asked.
