I think there is scope for bargaining if you have not purchased it already. It should be available for something like 4200-4300.

Actually, thsi shop looked better when I was looking around for a lower end system. Thought that they will be cheaper for the whole thing.

Now I need to verify if the speakers are also worth. I could not be there during the install, and only the rear ovals are visible.
I feel sorry for you BRO!
Please recheck your stuff.

on what? which HU are you using. do you mean via the USB port? if so, most USB ports have a limited ammount of amps they can put out (usually under 0.5A) so if your hard disk needs more than that it might not play.

Thanks Navin,
Actually i am planning to buy the new series(may be 4090). As Pioneer(USA) site is claiming that one can play songs from portable hardrive through USB port. But they didn't mentoned any power limitation for that as you mentioned above.

So first i need to check my portable harddrive power rating before considering any HU.

By specs, a USB port is supposed to give out only 500mA. Not that more can not be physically given out, it will compromise the electrical integrity and voltage regulation of the unit feeding this current if one does that.

Usually the USB-powered "Passport" type of external drives (which use 1.8" or 2.5" HDD) draw less current and don't need an external PSU. Check what you have - you are safe if your drive is USB-powered (doesn't have a DC supply socket on the casing).

The other limitation is the HU's ability to recognize large file systems. Usually the user manual mentions the limitation.

The Usb port HU are major meant for pen drives which have low power consumption. Also running HDD is not recommend because of the large size data which HU have to read which takes lots of time. So get 2-4 gb pendrives and enjoy music.

Does 4050 UB work with usb powered harddrive?

After lots of team-bhpying and visiting most of the shops in my town, I have decided to set up ICE with Pioneer 4050UB, JBL GTO 937(Rear 6x9 Co Axials) and JBL GTO 607C(Front 6" Component) for my Swift diesel.
The cost including the fitting comes around 15k. Is it a good deal?
One more thing that i want you to help me is to understand if it's possible to play a USB powered hard drive with 4050 UB. Or is it wiser to wait till the 90 series is out.
Please advise.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

Hmm.... I find that the front speakers are actually blau.

Here are snaps of the rear speakers

The pic of the ovals are taken with the door up, and pointing the camera up. I have rotated the image and resized it so that the logo is shown the correct way.

Right now, I am in a bit of lazy mode; and will post pics of the HU only if somebody wants them.

The above means I have Blaupunkt in the front instead of Pioneer. I was told that they will be using Pioneer speakers in both front and back. The front seem to be BGx 402s. See Blaupunkt - Loudspeakers - BG-Series - BGx 402

What do you guys think of this?? I am a bit confused, coz I think blaus are better than Pios, but Pios is what I was promised, blau is what I get.

I suspected the rears to be fakes coz they were not listed on pioneer's site. But they can be found here:-
Pioneer TS-A932P / TSA932 - IN STOCK! - Premier® 6" x 9" 3-Way Speaker

TSA932 seems to be the model number.

Sorry for taking this offtopic for this thread.
