Car Music system Problem...

I have a Sony CDX RA550 ( Sony Car Audio CD System Type CD / MP3 player Shopping and Price comparison - Results 21-30 ) fitted in my swift car 1 month back. It has Aux in support. (port is at the back side). I purchased a aux in cable and connected to the system. The system shows "Aux Rear In" in the display and simply hangs!!!
Dealer replaced the same with new piece. But again the same problem.
Now the dealer is ready to replace with CDX-GT460US. ( Sony India : CDX-GT460US (CDXGT460US) : Details )I am confused to go for it or not. Please let me know which is better and why?

Did you connect a device or were you testing without a USB device connected?

If you have tested with a device (USB flash drive), try another - the problem might be with your USB device and not the HU. Some recent USB 2.0 drives like Cruzer do cause a problem even on a PC.

The first thing the HU would do is to look for suitable content. If you switched to AUX-IN without device, it might keep searching till it gives up (time out) which might be set too long by default.

My USB is a IPOD video, which is working fine. I also tested it for other systems kept in showroom. It works fine.

I tried both. 1) Connecting USB device before switching on the system. 2) connecting the USB device after selecting the Aux IN mode.

And the Aux in cable is a normal audio o/p connector cable having "Male" connectors on both ends. (Its not USB / RCA etc...) One end goes to the IPOD audio out and other similar end goes to car system axuin port.

Dear Gururaj,
The male type stereo connector you are using for aux-in is actually the remote-in port for the optional Rotary Commander. Since this port would expect some sort of digital control signal, it is getting hung.
For aux-in, use the RCA ports labelled as bus-in and select aux-in as the source.

Use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.
Any would do.
However this would mean changing the tracks and all from the iPod.
If it has a USB, then try connecting the USB cable you get with the ipod.

If this is the diagram for the same HU you have , then the 2 pins on the left side of the rear of the HU seem to the one for aux. ( the one with bus in/ aux in mentioned)

You'll need a 3.5mm to RCA (Y) cable for this i suppose.

If you can, buy a Nokia cable which comes with generally N Series phones ( the one with 3 RCAs and a 3.5mm jack)

The 3rd RCA in that would be the video cable which does not need to be attached.
