yummy! the premier 80 looks quite beautiful in the dark. its a very good investment, and i hope you enjoy it. cheers!

PS: i dont think there is much difference between the p800 and p880 other than the fact that the newer one can do 3 way active. some bezel changes, and thats about it.

I think P800 is nothing but P80rs and P880 is nothing but P80rsII.
I might be wrong though.

P880=P80rsII

I may be wrong though.

as i mentioned earlier, the p800(p80RSII) is the newer model, and the p880(p80RS) is the older one.
the p800 does 3 way/4 way active, which the p880 couldn't.
apart from that there are some bezel changes, and a couple of fonts here and there.
also, i think the p80rsII (thats the p800) is capable of aux, bluetooth and usb (and ipod) and has a slightly better way of handling things
as far as preout voltage is considered, both are pegged at 5V.
not too much of a difference. go for the p80RS if you never plan to go active, and if you have plans to go active later, then get the p80RSII

OK, go it.
any user of the same can tell us the difference between models listed above.

edit : thanks frank but there is huge price difference between the 2 p80 and p80rsII
p80rsII is for 23k grey and p80 is for 15k a difference of 8k .

no need to pay that difference. the difference could be attributed to the fact that our almost illiterate distributors in India think that a newer model means its deserves a high premium. the hackneyed policy of the distributors is appaling, but at 15k the p80 is a great deal. id pick the RS/RSII anyday over the 9887.

I hated the blue display of my 6850. this was one of the reasons why i chose p80.

p80 can do 3 way active.

I dont think p880 can do 4 way active. both are 3 way. Both HU have selectable fonts. The p80 has Aux-in on the front panel.

After reading Gill's thread (Alpine 9887) , i find it rather shocking to see the P80 after you were thinking of getting it very soon. But then its an amazing HU.
Yes i wanted to buy the 9887 first. At one point i didnt like pio's user interface but after using kenwoods and an alpine, i find pio's interface the easiest. This was the main reason i chose the p-80 over 9887.

here's what i gathered:
-the newer RS has a copper chassis
-its bluetooth, usb and ipod ready with newer adapters
-only the newer 80rs can do 3 way active, the older one can only do 2 way active apparently
-the newer one has slightly different detailing.
-correct me if i am wrong, but the newer one has a 24 bit D/a converter (burr brown) whereas the older one has a burr brown converter but not 24 bit (this point i may be wrong)
