basic HU - around 5k
4 channel amp in grey - around 7k
front comps - 6k
rear woofer - 3-3.5k
box, wiring, instal - 2k

or
basic HU - around 5k
front comps - 6k
rear pre-amped base box - 7.5k
no box, no wiring reqd.

anything less than this... and you don't half qualify to say "i love music so much so like to have a decent system"

for 1/3rd the additional amount - 7k more, there'll be a world of difference in the way you experience music. imho, don't settle for anything less.

demos available by over enthusiastic, enthusiastic, less enthusiastic, newbies and pros on t-bhp. welcome aboard. :-)

p.s. - woofer is not equal to loud or space sacrifice always. woofer adds base which makes sound sound more fuller, more real.

firstly congratulations for the new car..its a very nice car..enjoycheers:

15k budget is enough for good music with windows up!!
nice head unit maybe pioneer(grey) or blaupunkt-5k to 7k
front components maybe jbl or blaupunkt-5k-6k
rear co-axials -6"x9"..maybe pioneer or jbl or blaupunkt 3k
wiring -free.dealer does it free if you'll buy all from one guy

now do check if the speakers are original, get the stuff from a reputed dealer!
the reason i chose rear 6"x9" coax instead 61/2" coax iff in near future you may feel like the sound is not loud enough you can just go and get a decent 4channel amplifier for additional 7k.this amplification will improve mid bass and listning to music with windows down

you may not get a new 2-din in pioneer but a used one is possible.
two din are also available in kenwood and alpine(starts fronm 23k)
one more thing you should look for is, honda city v-tec comes equipped with 2 din alpine system and people usually sell that for a high end cd player..you can try and look for that factory fitted 2 din from alpine with the your friends(owning city vtec) or with the dealers who buy that 2 din, but that will be without bill

that's an awesome 2-din (cassette, CD-MP3) with time correction, HP-LP, subwoofer control. don't tell me people sell that as well. when will they realise the worth of OEs. sigh!!

drive down from LSR towards nehru place... on your left you'll see a big apple store (if you know that)... or a big bridgestone tyre store... it is adjoining that... you will see some car audio brand signboards as well. and it's between LSR and the five star hotel.

hey guys,...

went to driven couple of days ago. enquired about 4 things .
1. seat covers. It was a black and silver (not exactly leather but sort of....i forgot the name of the material). liked it. Price quoted by the dealer Rs. 6000. But it was a bucket seat cover. the dealer said it wont be a problem fitting those seat covers in gets(which has got normal seats). Can i go for them???

2. Audio System. I told him bout pioneer HU and JBL GTO series speakers.
Price by dealer- HU ~ 5k
GTO speakers - front + Rear(~6000)
Amplifier (~2000)
He said an amplifier is necessary as GTO series demands it.
Can i do without the amplifier or SHall i go for that too??

Well he gave ma all grey market price and said pioneers are not available with bill as most people buy them without bill.

3. Pioneer steering remote ( Rs. 900)

Now gurus..pls tell me are the price quoted by the dealer genuine???

Could you be more specific as to which pioneer HU it is and which JBL GTO speakers are they. you need to mention the exact model number so that prices can be confirmed. Also which amplifier is it?

1. I did not know Driven sells JBL.
2. As usual I would always recommend you listen before you buy. Listen to a fre brands of speakers (JBL, Blau, Hertz, etc..) and a few HUs (Pio, JVC, Blau, Kenwood, etc..) before you settle.
3. I dont think any amp that sells for 2K will be any good. If you dont push your HU's volume control past it's half way mark you probably dont need an amp. if you do get either the Kenwood, Pioneer, JBL or Blau that retail for about 6-8K.

My Getz CRDi has following

Sony HU model 460 with front USB/Aux In
Rear Speaker- JBL GTO 937
Front speaker -JBL GTO 637

All with B&W.

I think for the car of its size this should be great enough(as per me!!).

If you are absolute geek, then go for amplifier, front components etc.
There are great ICE guru's here, listen to them you'll end up in having the best ICE.

So its all about what your budget and whether you wanna buy them in grey market or with B&W.

Have nice time selecting your ICE.
