Need advise on JBLs for my Zen

I am silent reader here ... and not much of a ICE hardware freak .......but i live with music....i have been reading a lot of posts around.... and never to miss i have learnt a lot... I have finaly managed to buy my first car .....a ZEN...and i really wanna set up a decent ICE ....so heres my budget and taste:

1) Up to 35 gs ...can push hard for another 10gs
2) Car Zen 2k1
3) I listen to Rock and metal Only ........sometimes trance...i dont like Boom Boom...i need pure music...and especially floyd!!
4) Prefer every bit of ICE to be JBL....may be HU also Pioneer.

from posts...i figured out GTO427 and GTO 937 makes a gud setup...i need your valuable advice on the whole setup as i have no clue wat is wat, i hope u know wat i mean......... thanks for your time GURUS/Members need your suggestions for rookie here...

PS: I ve also PMed SAM KAPSI for advice.

waiting for ur reply...

JBL'fying, May the tribe increase.

Hi @ bludsucs, welcome to the forum.

Since you seem to have a decent enough budget to begin your ICE pursuits, here is my two bit.

The head Unit: Pioneer 7950UB cost approx 9k in the grey.

The Amps: Instead of going in for two seperate amps, i.e. one four channel for your speakers and a mono for your sub, why not explore the option of going in for a single 6 channel amp like the GTO755.6

I believe Navin has one such amp installed and Sam would know about the costing and the availability. You could consult both of them with queries concerning install issues, sound difference, performance and so on.

The way i see things, a single 5ch or 6 ch amp is always less hassles as compared to a 4ch and mono combo.

As always the resident gurus out here shall be in a much better position to elaborate on the same.

The Speaker options would be

Fronts: 4" , I always thought that the zen could accommodate 5'' at least if not the 6". Unless of course you are referring to the Estilo about which I'm clueless*sorry*

Rears: You are spot on with the GTO937's as your choice.

Sub: The 12'' Sealed subbie should be a good fit here.

Time for the guru's to take over.

All the best in your quest.
Cheers.

with 35g's ( that too you can push in 10 more!) You should actually be able to do a lot better than JBL GTO series
GTO507/607 - approx 5200-5700 rs with bill
GTO 937 - 4000rs with bill

Pioneer the 7 series about 9K in grey ( if you can make do with the 5950series HU which is only 5800 grey you can go in for much r speakers and AMP which i think is better)
Consider 2200-3000rs for AMP wiring please.

See if you can accomodate the Infinity speakers, or Illusion speakers in budget.

Well If you are too inclined to JBL, then here's the combo for you.
Front JBL GTO 507C ( components includes tweeter, woofer, crossover), You just have to put a spacer to fit the speakers in front doors.
Rear JBL GTO 937 these are 6*9 Oval speakers.
A JBL 10" Basstube / 12" Sub enclosure
A 4 channel amplifier. ( 2 channel for the compos , 2 channel for the sub/basstube) JBL 75.4 is out of market now.
An Alpine or a Pioneer Headunit
I feel this is sufficient for a Zen. Don't forget to get damping done for the door pads.
The approximate cost for the whole setup would be 34K - 37K(including damping material, wires, spacers, MDF plank, Labour).
Hope this helps

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delay in responding...i was on vacation!!

guys i did use your advise...and i am a happy zenner now...

just so u know wat i bought, heres the details...

pioneer 7950 - HU
GTO 607 - front speakers
tweeters - actually came free with speakers
GTO 937 - rear speakers (the oval speakers with those buttons )
6 channel - Amp
1000 watts - woofer ( this one doesnt look like a tube )

the whole costing turned around 30 gs......the system sounds just amazing ...as they it can blow ones cloths off....i guess the mechanic did a nice job on the installation...used optical cables, 2 fuses and somekinda 2 small things (i dunno wat it is) and all the blah blah ...

no planks ...he gave me huge boxes , saying for my kinda amp and woofer planks wouldnt give u gud effect...

i dint know infinity or illusion would fit my budget .....read ur reply today...if not i would have gone for that .....but anyways ...i am way too happy with the setup now.

will post pics sometime soon......

thanks again one and all ...Best Regards Pai
