I have not read all the posts but one of my friend has purchased a GPS receiver and attached it to his car (GPS receiver - Rs.4k) hooked his laptop to his car inverter (Rs1500 for 110 W) and he is able to have full time audio/video entertainment. He is also buying the latest broadband from Reliance / Tata-Indicom (the one with the USB modem with speeds of 2 GBps+) which will have a full system in his car.
This would be more hi-tech than a car-puter I guess.
After doing little more investigation on the product "Viliv x70", most of the requirements for the carputer are in-built and we do not have to manipulate our existing system too....
I am reviewing the upmc portal site from long time.... there are quite a few demos which can explain about the product in detail.
For the amount that we are planning to install carputer in our cars, this is a one stop solution for our projects.
Just to add, the cost of this piece is roughly coming to 40K inclusive of shipping for the base model....
well, if someone can buy from the abroad, it will turn much lesser price to avoid shipment charges.

I just wanted to check if he has opted for indash screen or has gone for the windscreen mounted one. Also wanted to check the size of the screen he is opting for.

Short Answer: ummmmmm.. NO.
Long Answer: its just a laptop attached to a fire hazard cum EM/sonic interference causing inefficient (DC to AC to DC) device called an inverter. Oh..And a loosely secured touchscreen less laptop is a
safety hazard in more ways than one.
He is yet to buy anything since his old pc motherboard turned out to be full atx, so kind of on hold. regarding screen he wanted to get indash single din motorized.
Hi all please keep this thread for all types of CarPC / Carputer Discussions.
Please refer to this Thread for discussing Gigy's Setup Here
M3 power supply dose not come with p4 cable, so had to fabricate one with old desktop psu lying around. Pin 1 of molex goes to pin 3 and 4 of P4 connector for sharing 12v+ yellow wires. blacks connect together for ground.
Also made a stereo splitter for aux in to connect phone audio to amplifier.
Anybody using fusion brain here?
Hi gigy, I have a fusion brain, the first lot. But never got it working.
I have the temp senors and the volume control.
I need to find a way to get it working somehow.
i just could'nt figure out the software part on the FB. i too wanted to use this as auto headlights on when dark, auto wipers on when raining. but when i tried on the software part i just had to give up on it. lol
so, i sold it invested its money into a NITRO RC 4X4 truck. this is one amazing thing to play around with. :D
Dose it require programming knowledge?, i thought its all ready to use after installing the software, just finished downloading the latest one from the site.
