Kenwood HUs with USB and AUX-In?

Since I would alternate between flash drives and (non-Apple) HUs, is there any model in Kenwood that has both? I can't seem to find any on their site.

If not, is there any other brand that has such below Rs. 7,000?

Don't the pioneers require a lead for the USB function ? I heard that costs another 1 k.

What about Kenwood HUs? I read elsewhere on this forum that they are really good VFM. There's one model (MP4036U?) that someone (Gill?) has review as having excellent SQ. Will look into the 5050, but haven't people here reported that it has very bad build quality?

4036 is good. You can get one for 4.5 - 5K or you can also look at JVC which also costs around 5K .

Unfortunately I don't think the 4036 has an Aux-In. It's essential for me to have both (but whether they are in the rear or in the front doesn't matter).

I agree with the Lord of Lows. Its just the initial apprehension people have.

Last year a couple of people had made the same comments regarding the x950 series too. "Looks fake" & "Built cheaply".

I might end up with the 5050 also

hey vebmetal...you've been on the lookout for a HU for ages now. we have had a discussion on the Kenwood HU (4036) here, extensively. Why all the doubts again !? FYI, again, YES, this HU comes with USB (front) and AUX in (rear). And it can read pen drives, memory card readers and HDDs.

The Pio 5050 is also an excellent choice. A friend installed it in a zen couple days ago and its simply brilliant ! Its got a 2-line display and looks very clean and neat. No silly dolphins etc. Excellent build quality too (the pics do not do justice). Reads a 2GB stick in less than 3 secs ! And its really easy to browse thru the folders/files on large drives as well. VFM all the way. The HU cost 6.5k.

I know but it doesnt look like 6050 will be out soon.

In the UK lineup the 5000UB has a customizable display meaning you can choose to change the entire colour which is hot.

As you said, that was ages ago - in fact it seems like a past life when I started! My quest for ICE has now been over 6 months, and I blame Team-BHP

Does the 5050 also have USB and Aux-In?

The reason I got confused, and the reason why I started this thread, is that Kenwood seems to have launched a new series (maybe it's old news - dunno). But none of the HUs seem to have USB but only Aux-In (with an interesting new Aux-In feature:

Quote:
The new AUX Input has an automatic sensitivity control to ensure the output volume of the audio equipment is always set at a comfortable level to prevent sound distortion.
)
