Finally! Eh?
I'm sorry for the delay bro!

Congratulations! You have a very good system now. I know it's still half way, but it's already a good one. Enjoy!

Now, did you say bright? Hell!! That's strange. Really strange. Because that HU never was bright when I had it. I strongly recommend you to check all aspects once again. Start from the crossover and every connections. If it persists, then please explain how it's connected to the amp and speakers. Also try using the defeat option in the HU so that there ain't any artificial boost to the sound.
One important thing to note: use normal, good quality audio cd for testing and not Mp3s.

And regarding the burgers, I had tried that trick once and the bugger didn't bulge. You may try too. Or you can resort to his own special emotional blackmailing. But all for the HU only. Forget the tube.

And it is good to see the alphanumeric reptile making some solid contributions to the ICE Scene

PS: Don't return the HU. Swap it for 5 Burgers
The front is where its at! The reptile has realized the value of the head and will take it back when the time comes to install in his VDi.

Chetta THANK Y-O-U! No apologies necessary!!!!

Brightness was also to do with the amp gain setting I reckon.

Crossover has been set to -3db. Defeat also being used

The brightness was tackled once Satya tuned the head. I havent spent more than 20mins with the HU yet but need to learn.

Unfortunately no end of burgers will work. I will give him burgers to take the basstube though!!!

Now that should be brought to the notice of Mr.Hegde - a definite case of inducing a public service person with enticements!

s0uljah: Very interesting report, lol. The Alpines are not as bright as you describe them to be. Neither is much else in the chain. Make sure you have switched off MX etc if it exists and the EQ is flat. The Lucents dont need any attenuation from the crossover ideally, and last of all from the head unit. Also ensure that the tweeters are connected in correct polarity while you're at it.

So, you'll be giving head to the reptile when his VDi comes? Please post photos of that.

Thanks ShuvD, LBM, DerAlte & Riju.

@B&T : MX is off and with the defeat function sound is a lot cleaner. EQ is also flat but like I said need to master the HU and also spend some time tweaking the amp.

Can only expect good things to come from here on!!

Re: reptile it his the alpine headunit that he had lent to the madmullah that Im now using. So no graphic stuff for you sorry

When? Maybe you didn't do it right. After all, every reptile has his price.

Oh my gosh! Some reptiles forget what happened around them when they're busy sinking themselves into Zingers and Maharajas (the latter doesn't digest well in some reptile's stomach either).

I also offered him a Pioneer DvD HU if he allows me to keep this. But sometimes, he talks sense and said no!
