The same guy whose set up created the hiss I bet! Sorry if I sound bugged but seriosuly setting up a stereo system is not rocket science, I get a bit peeved when "professional" installers mess it up. |

Venom,Plz correct me if i am wrong! You are running SIX speakers and sub woofer? Check the power and ground wirring of the HU n AMP,check the gains on amp too, they might be set on a higher side.If possible plz don't ever visit the installer who installed the system, ever again! |

"Hiss" or "white noise" is also the noise a snake may make. Missing any? Can you hear your cylinders firing though it or is it just a steady hiss noise regardless? If it is the first case, after checking your wiring, specially grounds, then there are cheap aftermarket ignition noise filters you can buy that may help a little. If not,.....I dunno! |

Current setup is this. RCAs from HU, behind glove compartment along left side of car to Amp fixed to rear seat. Amp remote wire goes with the RCA in the same route. Amp power cable runs under carpet along the centre of the car. All speaker wires run along the right hand side of the car. Amp ground wire is fixed to a screw on the boot. 1.5-2 ft length of grounding wire. Now what new routes can I consider for the RCAs ? Also as I said, alternator whine is faint now, and intermittent. |

very simple... say amp 1 is grounded at point A and amp 2 is grounded at point B and Point A and Point B are not the same there might be some minor potential difference between A and B and this will introduce a hum or hiss into the signal chain (music). |

I know you might thing what differnce it will make. Just try this. Disconnect the remote wire and reroute it a little away from the RCA wires and tell us the result. |

But it can me there when HU and AMP grounds are not properly done. |

Where is the HU grounded by default? Is there a grounding wire in the default wiring harness? I was going through the first article @Navin posted. It seems the noise I have is due to the HU. Since with the HU on but RCA's disconnected at the HU end, there is no noise. |
