Pardon my heavy smoking habit, for that shaky image and shadow effect on the logo...

Will try to post a better picture soon!

Hi - I got a DVD player and two screens (on front headrests) installed in my Endeavour and went with Sony single din DVD head-unit (Rs 9.7K with B&W) and Sony 6.2 inch LCD (Rs 7.8K per piece = Rs 15.6 for 2 screens with B&W). Also got the stock speakers changed to JBL compo (Rs 8K for 2 pairs with B&W), a 2-channel JBL amp (Rs 4.5K with B&W) and a JBL bass tube (Rs 5K with bill and warranty). This is more than you might be interested in knowing, but I thought I will give the pricing of my entire set-up, should you want to get a more elaborate one done in your car.

If I was doing it again, I would go for Pioneer HU that has USB support as well.

Cheers,

Sandy

your sony HU will probably die the very day its warranty ends. You can get the pioneer HU then

Which means I will have to live with it for 2 years! I would rather cut my losses and get it changed sooner. Will do that as soon as I am able to source a fascia plate to use with a double din player in my car. The Pioneer touchscreen is very tempting.

AFAIK, sony retails new ~ 2200. So, the deal's better avoided!

What is wrong with Sony Xplod? I got them (HU and 4 speakers) installed from MGA and they seem good to me. Is Sony generally bad or only for ICE?

In my opinion sony is one of the best in home entertainment. I has got a more deep bass whereas philips takes bass with the high frequencies more. NOt sure about ICE though. It all depends on personal perception.

Nope! I tend to disagree here. It is generally loud.

Home Entertainment is a very very large and wide field, Sony is more like a leading brand in the affordable stuff when it comes to Audio.
However they are nowhere even close to being one of the best. They are more popular if I put it right.

I could not understand this one, bass with high frequencies ?

BTW: Forget Sony for car audio, it is crap,
Blaupunkt was good, but after the bosch Split, they are not available in most stores and I have no clue on service.
Look at JBL, it will on a basic level IMO beat both others and you will always have good service backup as long as you looking at a basic car audio setup.

Is that so. But all the xplods on ebay were listed at about 10000 range.

Well that depends on the taste. In comparison to philips and pioneer which is one of the leading home music system here in kerala, customers prefer sony though it is priced above philips and pioneer for the same segment.

I meant to say phillips has less deep bass, but it takes high frequencies well.
