An amp will drive a components better. But that does not mean that the HU will not be able to drive components - it definitely can.

Components, in general, sound far better than coaxes - and hence components in front are normally the minimum recommendation for good sound, even if driven from the HU.

Sure it will drive but it will be an injustice to the comps

So even if the HU is driving the components will sound better than co-axes? I guess you cannot find much difference, or am I wrong here?

if you want to audition a car with components and no amp, then there is one place, the hyundai showroom! the elantra top model comes with stock ice and the comes with components in the front that are made by hyundai electronics itself. audition this and then i am sure most of your doubts will vanish!

also if you don't want amps then i guess you can go for the sony top model HUs with more HU output than the pio costing around 7K in the grey, the cost about 9-10K in the grey! i particularly don't remember the model numbers, but the sony with the dot matrix color display players with equalizer options like the pio i guess but definitely has higher output than the pios! correct me if i am wrong!

Reserve your emotions only for humans, not components!

Yes, they are noticeably different even when driven by HU. Much better sound stage, much better HF response than coaxes; partly due to placement of tweeter separately, and partly due to better tweeters.

Shrayv,

Congrats on your new car!

A friend of mine is getting his i10 delivered this week. We were also looking at an ICE setup similar to yours. Could you please let me know where the installation was done? Do post your review on the installation.

LPF @ 80 Hzs

I am not aware of your install, however a small suggestion is for you to check the LPF [low pass filter] on your HU. Set it @ 80 Hzs and not at Flat or 63 Hzs.
Maybe the 'distortion' will go away !!!
