iPod-compatible HU
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-entertainment/35389-ipod-compatible-hu-5.html)
Is it possible to connect the iPod cable to the USB jack of the Kenwood 6539U, without requiring another cable/cord? If so, is this slot in the front or rear of the face plate.
How can the iPod be connected to the HU using Aux-In? (I always thought USB was the only way to do it) If this is possible, wouldn't the Pio 3090 be a good buy?
I had a pioneer 7950ub which allowed one to directly control their ipod from the hu itself. It also charged the ipod simultaneously. Also the 7950ub had a wheel that made navigation quite a cinch. The wire of the ipod just goes into the usb slot hence you have no complex connections to worry about. I think the 7950ub has decent sq and good connectivity options. For a budget buyer its recommended. I think the 6050ub is an immediate successor and has the same features. Buy pioneer without bill and warranty but from a trusty dealer.
Among Pioneer's,
3050: Front USB and rear Aux-In (Can the iPod be connected to the Aux-In?)
4050: No USB connection (Is this HU iPod compatible?)
5050 / 6050: Both have USB slots in the rear, which is nice.
From Kenwood, the 5039U.
Does Kenwood sell w/o B&W?
What do you guys suggest, and what are their grey market prices? Looking for most VFM of them all.
AFAIK Kenwood 5539U and 6539U are direct wire Ipod. You dont need any extra unit to play from Ipod.
Check the video here. It plays through iphone too
YouTube - Kenwood Mp6539u with IPHONE
;)
*drools*
5039U sells for ~5K without B/W
This unit can also play ipod easily. Have tried 160GB one but you wont be able to see your Playlists or sort by artist and play etc features.
Thanks for the video, Abhibh. I never noticed any USB cable plugged into the HU, though. Did I miss it?
Also, what is the difference between these 2 Kenwood models, in terms of features and prices? Like the 6539, does the 5539 constantly change colors? (which personally, I don't like)
Do Kenwood's sell without B&W?

In 6539U the cable comes from rear side of the HU whereas in 5039 and 5539 the USB jack is located at front. I personally will prefer rear USB than front.
There is option in 6539 for variable illumination disco effect which can be
turned off. In 5539 there is only single colour illumination i.e. blue where as in 6539 there are like 10 colors AFAIK.
Kenwood do sell without B/W and trust me i have waited for 2 months just for the kenwood HU's (when i was getting my car iced) and the only one i can get without B/W was 5039U for 5K. I was aiming at 6539 but it was not even available with Bill and Warranty.

If just the iPod cable is all that's required to connect it to the HU (6539U), is it long enough considering that the USB slot is at the rear?
If I understand correctly, the 5539 and 5039 have the USB slot's in the front, but with the 5539 (like the 6539),
no additional cable is required, correct?
Isn't the 5039 similar to the Pioneer 3090UB in the fact that both have USB slots in the front, and require an additional cable?
Can the iPod be connected using the Aux-In, without any issues? If so, what's the best way to connect - via the USB or Aux-In?
So among Pioneer's, the HUs that come with rear USBs are the 5050 & 6050, and among the Kenwood's, it's the 6539U.
1) Kenwood felt better in terms of built quality
2) Like(d) Kenwood's SQ than Pios

5039 - can play ipod but will recognize it as USB. You will need your regular USB ipod cable which you use with PC / MAC
5539 - will play ipod with functions like browsing ipod from HU like your playlists, fav artists etc. Again you will need your regular USB ipod cable which u use with PC / MAC
6539 - the cable comes from rear and it quiet long. you will attach your regular ipod cable to the cable coming from the rear of the HU.
I would put my money on 6539 as browsing your ipod from HU is easy in it as the display is multiline.
So from what I understand, it's advisable to go in for a HU that has the USB slot in the rear, which means the Pio 5050, 6050 and Kenwood 6539.

Consider the KDC MP 6539U
Its a VFM HU with brilliant SQ. Kenwood - KDC-MP6539U
I got it for 8.5k w B&W.
luvjascha you're right the Pio 4090 does not have USB. |
My vote for 6539u,Even if you dont buy it,just take a look at it
It qualifies for most of you demands.
Sound quality on HU facts
among the comparable brands available in India
Kenwood- clarity is its forte, nice treble depth.Crisp audio
Pioneer - good for bass boomers
So depends on the kind of music you prefer really.
Higher budget- Eclipse
My brother just bought a Kenwod 5039U for 6k with B&W. I use Kenwood BT7539U. Both are excellent SQ wise and IMHO much better than Pioneer HUs.
Kenwood it is! What are the basic models of Kenwood that have the USB in the rear? (which is advisable/preferred by many)
For USB in the rear, i guess you could look at 6039U. If you are ok with front USB, then 5539U (for direct ipod control) or 5039U (iPod as a USB drive)
