Is this with B&W? How much does the box for this cost? And do you need additional wiring/cabling with this, or an amplifier wiring kit will have the requisities?

I visit SP road very often for electronic components, i came across 2 shops which gave me good pricing for without bill/warranty material.
I don't remember the shop name i can post after couple of days.Since my budget was very tight i went for without b/w and in that case any shop will do (we don't have to bother about- he is good installer/technically sound etc..).I was quoted 2200/- for sony 502 and 2700/- for sony xr602,Jbl 5 1/4 components for 3900/-.

Hmm... So Veb, this is what you have been upto?
Cool. I was looking to research about 12" Subs too, good that you have a thread running here already, it serves good for many of us infact. Kudos to you.

OT:

I'm running on a KAC8401 AMP and EL6.1 on the front doors. I do not have a HU, and I plug my iPOD to the AMP directly with a 3.5" Stereo jack to RCA.

I want to know if I buy a SUB Woofer now, and connect it to the AMP[what ever specification] will it perform[not about well or not] - Just Perform?

My Illusions are great sounding infact better than how it sounds from a HU.
I bought a Pio 5050 and EL6.1 for a friend and it sounds nice, just nice and not Amazing yet!

All I like to know is, does a HU need to do anything with the SUB if there is a AMP inbetween? Will the MP3 player just do good enough [for now! atleast].

Will get a great HU soon. I'm buying time for that, till then this will be my setup!

cheers
MS

Your sub will perform, just make sure you have LP on your amplifier. You will have no control over the sub level (except for the gains on the amplifier) and you will have to use a Y-Splitter to connect the output of your iPod to Front and Rear of the amplifier.

Thanks millionswords, I hope to gain from it someday too.

As for your question, basically you won't have control over the sub. You won't be able to switch it off, or increase or decrease level, or change the frequency cutoffs. Everytime you need to make one of these changes, you will have to manually do it from the amp, so you can imagine that would be a hassle. but if you can live with it, more power to you.

@million, i would say, it would be too much of a hassle, due to the reasons stated above. Instead of spending on a sub now, get yourself a decent HU, with sub controller, and later on, get a sub.

Cool guys,

I will change my idea of getting a Sub now to getting a HU.
Ok, now what HU. What is available in what models what is not?

@MS: I'm on the same boat. Planning for a HU+Speakers+amp and then add a sub later.

But i'm still confused on the HU. Let me know if you go HU hunting. I'll also try to join
