Why did you go by your installer's words? If you liked Hertz, you should have got them!

Nishant, that's exactly what I was saying. I think you misunderstood me.

Sorry for the misunderstanding veb! I was just trying to figure out where a 6x9 would fit in the scheme of sound reproduction. When I read your post, I somehow felt you mixed up.

Anyways, I was told by a friend that in a budget install, he would prefer having a sub instead of a 6x9 (given that front speakers are compos and car is self driven most of the time). Thats where the entire confusion and choice arose between the 2 kinds of speakers!

Are there any members in Mumbai having HU (preferably Pioneer) + Electra as their only ICE setup? I would be keen to listen to it and figure out the absence of 6x9 in order to convince myself further. Please PM me so that we can meet up sometime.

2 reasons:

1. The installer comes highly recommended, and knows his stuff
2. He promised that I could use it for a week, and if I were dissatisfied with the setup, he'd rip it out and put in Hertz.

He was essentially surer of being able to handle any svc/repair issues with Polk. And probably decided I wasn't audiophile enough to tell the difference anyhow

I was browisng through the international website of JBL and also on FX Audio website. I came across the following models of 4 channel amplifiers. How do these stack up vis-a-vis GTO 75.4 (now phased out, I believe?) What are the prices for them?

- CS 60.4
- GT5-A604
- GTO504
- PX300.4

Blaupunkt
- GTA 4 Special Mk II (I have been quoted Rs 5600 and Rs 6300 for this)
- THA 475 PnP

I have few queries regarding 6x9 speakers

1) 6X9 Vs Components
I suppose there is no filter in 6x9 three way speakers as we have in component speakers for spearting high and low frequencies, So is a three way 6x9 better, worse or equal to a component speaker?

2) 6x9 Vs Subwoofer
Can a single subwoofer of 10 or 12 Inches produce more base then two 6x9s?

3) (Subwoofer + coaxials) or (Subwoofer + components) or (Subwoofer + 6x9)
Which one is the complete solution for rear sound setup.
Here I have a limitation that the components or coaxials can't be more than 5 inches. I can put 5 inches speakers with a spacer at stock locations, and for 6x9 I have to cut my parcel tray.

Components are definitely better than coaxials. So if your budget permits, go for components wherever you prefer the sound stage (front if you drive, rear if you are driven)

Yes definitely.

I would say (Subwoofer + 6x9) is the best combo for rear fill. 6x9 should ideally go on an MDF tray and not on the OE rear parcel tray.

However, if space is a constraint and you prefer stock door locations/5 inchers, then ofcourse (Subwoofer + coaxials) is your next best option.

(Subwoofer + components)
would be preferred only if you are driven around and prefer sound stage at the rear

This is a side-by-side comparison of 2 most popular budget 4 channel amplifiers. I am no technical expert, but from what I understand, Kenwood 8401 looks better on paper. Can someone please elaborate?

Blaupunkt GTA4

Kenwood KAC 8401

Which of the parameters made you think "better on paper"?
