Am toying with fitting a a sub to my Vtec for "effective" listening

Need info on

1: Can it be fitted to an existing 4 channel amp (there is no separate channel from the head unit) ?

2: Should I mounted a woofer in the parcel shelf or go for anenclosed system in th boot ?

Any brand recommendations would be appreciated ?

Thanks

Superb, so now we have two thumping Vtecs on board!

On the parcel shelf. For convenience among other things. But have the hole professionally cut with electric cutters. Dont let the local guy use a hammer..

Just shoot ahead and pick up a Pioneer TS-W305C 800W subwoofer. What is the power ratings of your amplifier?

My Vtecs sound system

GTO

well if you want to put a subwoofer for maximum efficency a enclosure is recommended...else you can go in and mount it on the shelf but you will need to change the shelf, put in a thicker mdf plank.
about the amplifier..:
if its a four channel its not a problem as long as you can bridge it. that way bridge two channels and run your sub with it on the lpf mode. if it does not have an lpf then you might have to buy a crossover or equaliser. also you dint mention what head unit do you have?
personally, if i wanted ot put in a sub and was a little tight on the budget i would buy these tubes which have a built in amp and are perfectly built to the enclosures. no headache in installation and minimum cutting to the car.
good brands are:
jbl
alpine
sony
they all have tubes with built in amplifiers
else for a good subwoofer:
the usual: pioneer,sony,kenwood,alpine,jbl
expensive: kicker,jl audio,rockford fosgate,momo by polk audio
amplifiers same categories.

Hello SIR!!

Yeah. an ordinary type from Blaupunkt. Does it's work though :)

Am not looking for something fancy - my system is biased towards mid to high range, need some kick to it

if you wanna go rudra's way..you cant go wrong. he has one sweeeeeeet setup in his car. :D

Dear Ajmat

You never told us which AMP you have and how much watts it is. Cause this spec is important to know which sub you have to go for.

I prefer you go for an enclosure kind of a setup inside your car boot and have an AIR out hole made on the rack behind in the middle. I would suggest only pioneer as GTO, as i tried lot of subs but i was not able to get an optimum bass out of the others but the pioneer has a very good bass dept comparing to others. Last but not least, Your wiring has to be good. I mean the wires used for the power and wires used for the subs should be of a good quality and thick(these are special wires for audio). However you get a wiring kits (ex: Boss kits) for these kinds of setup.

.

Sorry, it's a 2 channel - 120 watts X 2 (Pyramid PB440X) - not sure whether this is adequate

You can see a jet black VTEC passing by with Mark Knopfler’s latest ‘Shangri-la’ playing. Deep bass to heightened that mean black look.
Sodium vapor lamps dancing past the bodyline. Flat solid alloys rolling black on opposite direction with stroboscopic effect…

There goes our Ajmat. Powered by James B Lansing four channel amp and mama of sub woofer to paint the town red.. oops, black.

I’m glad to pass on my ‘king of bling’ title to Ajmat.

Like a true sportsman I must allow the others to take the pole position.
