There are quite a few external devices that allow one to control an iPod through stock HUs. Most connect to the CD changer port of stock HUs, and use the HU's CD control interface to control the iPod. Harman Kardon Drive+Play is one such device.

Does your stock HU have AUX port. If yes, than you just need to buy an AUX cable. You can use it using your headphones port of your ipod. Please check the following thread.

yesterday saw a HCL IPOD 3 in 1, this is a ipod car charger + FM transmitter + ipod Holder, it is costing me 900, has any body used it and how it is.
does the IPOD holder works fine?
