My i10 IC'ed-Illusion,GZ,Kenwood BOOM!

After a lot of waiting, deliberating and deciding, i finally iced my new car.
Its an entry level setup and since boot space is important to me now (i just became a dad!) i chose a setup without a sub.
I must say i am really satisfied with the outcome and dont miss the sub considering the kind of music i hear.(maybe my ears arent so trained anyway)

I thank Mr Ajay Kamath,NAvinji,Der Alte,Raghuvinderji , Bhagwan and Zohir for their support and patience.( who still provide me their help for all the tweaking and tuning that seems to be an everlasting affair)

Tbhp as a whole and all its members whose posts helped immensely in choosing the right stuff for me and yes for doubling my budget too!
but whose comlaining.
i love my ICE

Pictures speak a thousand words - so here are a few thousand

Fronts are illusion Audio EL6.1
Damping is Noisekill 25 sq ft of it ( went way past what i thought i would use)
Hu - Pioneer 5950 ( i liked the older models more, i dont use usb so i didnt miss that feature)

Rears- Ground Zero GZ mk2 690 (have adequate punch and bass to substitue a sub for my requirement)
They are loaded onto a custom rear parcel shelf that opens up just like the stock parcel shelf so i can fit my air travel luggage!

Amp KAC 8401 - real VFM. i liked the neat work on the amp tray that Zohir did for me

The last pic is of the temporary tweeter position ( till i finish fabricating cups to hold the tweeter pods to be placed in the same position -only facing the front passengers-off axis)
The i pod aux cable is neatly tucked into the glove box

A question

The Amp has a switch
"B Ch Bass Boost"
it is currently set if the Off position

What do the gurus advice? should i turn it ON considering there is no Sub
What is its effect?

Currently i have wired my front compos as B channel
i am planning to change the wiring connections of the amp so that the GZ's on the rear are channel B so as to utilize the bass boost to the fullest through the 6*9's

is the above assumption correct?

Great setup and choice of equipment Magma!
Can you post individual prices please?
Did you buy the HU, amp, wiring from elsewhere? Because AFAIK, Zohir does only speakers, right?

thanks nishant

Individual prices here
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/sound-...-price-34.html

Only, damping actaully cost me over 3000rs (there is a mistake in what i posted in the link above)

Zohir stocks each and every item you need for an ICE instal if not he can procure them.
i got only speakers from him though

Hey seems like iLLusions are invading a lot of hatches these days.

Damping too is getting popular

Magma, Enjoy the sound !

Edit : I just saw the other thread and that you mostly listen to classic rock... great choice of speakers in that case.

Firsts congrats on the setup.

About the BASS boost keep it switched off as it is not required. If you feel the you need more bass fiddle a little with the HU eq. Keep all the setting in the AMP to FLAT.

lol

hmm ,you know, i wud believe an expert is one who has actually made a baby not 1 who KNOWS evrything about making one
so in all probability you would be as expert as anyone else

yep nitrous those are the MX digital RCA's.
its wierd- i had a set ;i cut them up (i cut into a scoshe too)- i found the MX to be quite good
Note: my ears are not trained enough to notice the difference between MX and the ENTRY level kits from low/mid fi reputed brands

Above assumption is correct, but a 6-12 dB boost at 45Hz will be a bit too much for both the amp and the speakers. Firstly the poor amp is not the most powerful giant and using it for so much bass would not be the best idea. Plus, so much bass is not ideal for the speaker either. Unless you lower the gain greatly on the rears and the subtle addition of lows then becomes just barely audible and supplementing the fronts.

Another option would be Navin's "psycho" approach. Adding a touch of boost between 100-140Hz depending on the center frequency allowed by the head unit's parametric equalizer. This is sometimes perceived beneficially in systems without a sub and with electronic dance and rock music.

BTW, what ICE have you installed in the other 73 cars that you bought over the last 2 and a half months?
