Swift VDi iLLusionized and Ground Zeroed.. I’m Lovin’ it!!

The car is 22 days old and still no ICE! The missing ICE was making my long daily drive to Noida seem even longer.

So, yesterday was the day when I got the car ICED and also changed my sunfilms to Llumar.

Sunfilm:
I had earlier installed Garware scratchless sunfilm on the side and rear glasses. Somehow I did not like the finish of this film, it was just too plain and simple. A friend of mine got Llumar sunfilm on his SX4 and after seeing the finish, I was convinced that it was worth the extra money that Llumar demanded.
Went to Elegant, Lajpat Nagar and got the Llumar tints on all the glasses (Front, Rear and Sides). It took more than 2 hours because of a power cut, since the front and rear film has to be heated to get the shape of glass. I must say it has definitely changed the overall look of the car, I love it!

Now off to Faridabad, where I had to meet LBM to get the car ICED.

Configuration:
Pioneer 5050
Front Components : Illusion Electra 6.1
Sub: Ground Zero GZ12 MK2
Amp: Ground Zero GZTA 4.120 MK2
Wiring Kit: Ground Zero

Upon the recommendations of LBM, I did not put the earlier planned 6” coaxials. I decided to give the speakers a miss and maybe add them later if I felt the need.
The install was done at a small shop in Faridabad, don’t even remember the name. Although the shop was a small one, but he did a neat job, I particularly like the tweeter mounting job on the A pillar. I am a total newbie when it comes to the settings in the amp and HU, that’s where LBM came in. He took care of everything and also tried to explain me some of settings that I would frequently need to use.

Coming to the sound part:

Front Components: Those components upfront really don’t let you miss the rear coaxials. Sound quality is very crisp and no distortions even at high volumes. The illusion components have their own signature sound which is quiet different from the other brands which I have heard (JBL,Infinity & Pioneer). To me they sound better than all these three.

Sub: The ground zero Sub provides the nice punch and a very good Bass. It also has a slightly different output compared to JBL(which seemed a little too much louder to me).

When you sit in the rear seats you do feel that the sound is coming from the front and that is when you somewhat miss the rear speakers a little.

@LBM: Thanks for your time bhaaji, really appreciate it!

All in all a very long and tiring day, but I am very satisfied with the sound quality. I’ll let the pics do the talking, sorry no install pics , It was a hot day and I was too tired.

Cheers

Jaspreet

Congrats revved_up and good show, LBM!

The system is an exact replica of the Alto install on the CNBC Awaaz show! Coincidence?

It looks like you have put sunfilm on the windshield. If so, how is it?

Yes the car has Llumar sunfilm on the front glass. It does look a bit dark from outside but I have not felt any significant drop in visibility both in day and night.

Wouldn't really call it stupid. For ICE newbies, it does make sense in a way. Speaking from personal experience. Upgrading the setup step by step helps you appreciate the worth of money spent each time.

For people like me, to whom a 10K basic setup seemed more than adequate less than a year ago, being able to appreciate the change in setup quality, with each little planned upgrade, does help justify the overall investment.
