Hello 'N' !

I was keen on a sub like the i-10.
However, this install is not going to be 'as simple' & plane jane looking [I hope]. Thr guys @ boom were keen to spruce the 'look' of the install up. I was not keen on this, but since Zohir is a friend, I gave in.
You have seen most of my work, it is onl functional - I do not believe in good looks and all that.

So now, we are to have the Steg amplifiers mounted on a slanted custom made tray right on the top & the x-over [04 of them] to be on a seperate board & the sub is not yet finalised.

By the way, I have many enclosures that I want to loose.
2 are from an older install - Swift - 12" sealed boxes - concrete loaded - double walled & extensively braced. I will give them away @ Rs. 2.5 K if some one wants them. They should be used in a pair.

Your suggestion for the material for the sub is good. But I have already spent 2 days on this. It will take 2 days more. I am not so sure if I can spare much more time to look into 'new' materials & fabrication etc. SO I am sorry.

This install story will continue. More snaps to follow during the day......
Thanks for looking & commenting !!

Swift - Diesel - ICE - Steg + MB Quart [Q Line] + Illusion [Carbon].-sww.jpg

that is what i was asking about. has a custom enclosure been made to cover the rear of the sub, or has the damping been applied to the spare wheel ?

oh oh;
Now I get it.

I have just damped the spare wheel.
The Sub will be in a seperate enclosure.

I want to make it a sealed isobarik enclosure 0.7 cft in size.
Zohir of Boom wants me to make a 'double enclosure' so that both the carbon ND 12 subs from Illusion Audio are visible. This is a dispute - hope to settle it by today - over coffee....

Ishan Tyrewalla Raghava was looking for a sub box. B&T will know more. Ishan is thinking of "going iso" with his sub too.

I assume when Zohir realises that a 3 cu. ft. box (2 x 1.5 cu.ft) will fill the entire boot in the Swift he'll see things your way.

ofcourse there are isobarik topologies that will show both woofers but none are offer the tight couplling of a face to face (push-pull) isobarik.

Thanks Navin - Helpful.
Now, Zohir needs to open his eyes and mind and accept a push - pull isobarik !!

If Z still wants to see 2 subs you could make 2 isobarik boxes and use 4 subs. it'll still be only 1.5 cu. ft.

Navin, you are a star.

I will need to buy 4 carbon subs + 2 Stegs etc.

Will write in a bit.

just one more doubt. While I understand the merit in damping the spare wheel, will there be any issue- i mean , when you have a flat, will the damping on the spare wheel be a hindrance when you want to install it ?

Equipment and install so far look impressive.
One quick question won't an isobaric box reduce the efficiency of the woofer ?

Yes Sir.

It sure does. You need double the power for the same output. But the main issue is space. Boot space is precious in a Swift. So it a compromise that is worth it.
My Amp is 2200 Watts @ 1 Ohm. So efficiency is the last of my worries.

Gt-trading - Attivitą
