My new Swift with Pioneer HU, front JBL and Kicker ovals

I just ICEd my new Swift (Quick Silver) yesterday. I started out with a budget of about 10-13k but ended up with a 15k system, but veery happy with the sound.
I got a Pioneer 3090 HU with warranty and anti-theft insurance.
Front speakers are JBL 5 and 1/4 " speakers hidden behind the stock grill.
The best part of the set up are the rear shelf mounted Kicker DS6930 ovals.
I tried out out JBL, but these blew them away (pun intended ).

The HU:

The kickers in the back:

Unfortunately i didnt get any damping done. On the way back from the installer, i tried to tune it up and parts of my car started rattling so keeping it low for now. Need to get some serious damping if i want to use these to the max. Any suggestions on where/how to get this done in Bangalore?

Sir,

May I ask, why did you install 6 X 9's ?
There is a lovely place provided to you in the front & rear door for your round co-axil or component speakers. That is what you should have considered.

What damping will you do ? Your speakers [main] are in the 'open' on a parcel tray that will 'vibrate' & 'swing' & 'resonate' !!!

Sound in a car should only play from the 'front' nothing should ever come from the back. So what is the purpose of installing speakers that play loud from the back ?

When we watch TV - Movies in a Theatre - Attend a musical concert etc etc. we listen to the audio from the front - so why should it be any different in a car ? Can some one shed some light on this. I would appreciate it....

Thanks,

Bhagwan Ji, this is not a nice welcome!
Let him first enjoy his ICE, then when he'll listen to something (as specified by you) i am sure he'll get back to the forum and look for decent compos and then go for dampening.
All the best mate!!

Never mindthat Nickoo, this guy Bhagwan really knows his stuff, i have been reading his posts and his choices are really impressive(Quite Quite pricey though ) He should be charging for giving out all the information he gives for free

I am kicking myself for putting Pioneer 6 X 9 in my car but going to put Component Speakers shorlty.

sorry sir - did not mean to offend !!

Sir,

I did not mean to offend any person or product.

PTC is 'known to me rather well' !!
I do not want to run down Kicker.
It is a 'good product'

My contention was not against any person or installer.
But, I just wanted to know why 6 X 9's were chosen ? That is all.

The Swift has a great OE location - in the doors. Just put components in the front & co-axils in the back & you will be set.

There is no need for damping or what ever else. All that is only needed if one wants to go up the ladder.

If, I 'offended' anyone - my apology.

No offence taken bhagwan ji. Any criticism/ advice is most welcome.
My knowledge of ICE is severly limited. .
I just went along with what the installer told me was the 'popular' of doing it. Can i move ovals into the fronts still? I thought the front slots are for rounds only?
If i can i certainly will. While i was getting the set up done, i was sitting in the back seat with my friend and the sound was just brilliant. Didnt realize it wouldnt sound as good when i'll be in the front

Self driven. I dont use it to go to office but plan on weekend use mostly, within the city or small trips out of the city.

If you self drive, then you will never sit behind. Hence, having 6 X 9's on your parcel tray is of no use to you.

If you can, go back to your dealer - installer & request him to take this back & sell 6" components from Kicker to you. That you install in your front door & get started & later - if budget permits - buy an amplifier.

All the best !!

Kicker Car Speakers and 6-1/2" Component Systems at Sonic Electronix

choose the one that suits your bedget.....
