Help - Kenwood KDC - 4028 - locked pin code

hi,
this is a non technical non anything question- just information that is required.
i took my cousins KDC cd player and fitted it into my car. a while back the battery died and i replaced the battery. ever since- i have not been able to play anything cause it keeps asking for "a code"
would anyone know what this "code" might be?
any help will be appriciated.

Kenwood stereos have a PIN code security feature. Your cousin may have set a code. Try the default code (see manual).

Security. If any one takes it, they should not be able to use it.

@madan, The PIN should be part of the papers (of the HU, if purchased separately), or with the car's papers. Get you cousin to contact the dealer he got it from. Or atleast get the original invoices. Have the dealer get the PIN for you.

The default pin is there in the manual

and if its changed then the guy who changed it might be knowing

or if he has forgotten then can be resetted by the Kenwood dealer.

cousins posted with army- so dont think he's got a pin with him. I remember that when i was getting it fitted into my car- the chap whofitted it entered a number. was trying to check if soemeone knows a universal number or soemthing.

try reverting the stereo to its Default or Factory settings.might help

or try downloading the manual from net otherwise i will check at home this weekend and will post any info on monday.

i have same stereo in one of our vehicles,so will check for manual.

maddan you can reset the kenwood HU. Check the image below to see where the reset button on the HU is.

If you want the manual let me know i will upload it.

pressed the reset button- but nothing happend. it went blank for a while- and then came back to the screen "Code - - - - 0"

I found some stuff on the internt and i tried those- but didnt work.

You mentioned your installer entered a code. Go back to him. I checked. There is no default. And reset does not reset the code. The idea is to render the HU unusable if stolen. The installer should not have activated this feature (off by default) in the first place.

Dont think the installer has a choice on this. AFAIK, there's no default - that's the reason I had suggested trying to get the HU's papers.
