If there is only one pair of RCAs, they correspond to the stereo signal directly. FL+FR and RL+RR is split later internally. If there are 2 pairs, they will correspond to FL+FR and RL+RR. Putting volume setting more towards the rear will cause the image to shift backwards - not good for listening.

I am not too sure about this, since when I reduce the volume of rear speakers it reduces sound from the amplified speakers as well whereas when I reduce the front ones there is no impact.
That is why I was about to try that to improve the quality.
Do you suggest any other configuration...
