@ Greenhorn - I definitely want one. I'm confused about the position of the IR transmitter though. It seems to be upwards, how would it work properly in that case?

the one pointing upwards is the LED indicator for Learning mode ( i think)

a lot of people posted their apprehensions about whether it would work for sure.

I'm planning to get one learning remote , and the multi brand one from some colleague who is coming back from overseas. This might take some time. will check if they work and post the results.

Alternately if someone abroad ( or you know someone coming from the US/UK) is willing to be try buying one and see if it works , please do let us know as well

I think I might be able to arrange one from the UK by end December. Lets hope you can manage it earlier. Had I known about this earlier, could probably have got it this week. :-(

they seem to have come up with a new one ( cheaper too - 25$, free USA shipping )

but it looks directional, and am not sure it will work on RHD cars, since the IR might be aiming the wrong way

I dont want to buy the branded apline ones.
