I enquired the prices of two amps.

JBL GT5 604 - Rs.5500 ( without B&W )
Blaupunkt GT4 - Rs.6000 (without B&W)

Is it ok ?? He says the wires will cost around Rs.1600 .

Not me.
Have used a JBL CS 60.4, 4-channel for over a year. On one trip to Hampi from Goa it was used for about 12 hours every day, accounting for stops, for 6 days - never even hiccuped.
Mounting position is important, there should be no obstruction to airflow to cool the amp, and of course, proper and tight wiring.

I've used a JBL GTO 75.4 for 1.5 years. No overheating problems whatsoever (touchwood).

Ice Upgrade For My Getz

Hi guys ,

I have a Sony CDX 470 US ( With USB and Aux) Head Unit , in my Getz CRDi . I want to install FRONT SPEAKERS only . Kindly Suggest me a good quality front speaker that will go good with his headunit. Coaxial or Component ?

NO Rear speakers. NO Sub . NO amps.

Instead of investing for front speakers i would reccomend you can go in for basic 2-way components, getz can accomodate 6.5"inch comps in the front door added with MDF spacer rings, this will anyday sound better than installing coaxials. There are several brands available which will be compactable with the Sony 470US..

Get some good component speakers within a 6k budget, and then get rid of that player, Sony is just not the types for any good sound quality.

Thanks guys.
One doubt. If i install components , then i have to install Amps , right? Because , the HU power will not be enough to drive the powerful component speakers.

Not at all. Amps will definitely give a better experience, however the HU amp can decently drive components for moderate listening.

Will i get a decent quality sound ,(not looking for a great bass effect stuff ) IF i install JBL GT5-S265 in all the four doors ? I dont want the parcel tray as i often fold the rear seats to carry some big stuffs .

My Sony HU gives out 52Wx4 Power .
This speaker has the following specifications :

Size 165mm
Nominal Impedance 4 Ohms
Power Handling, Peak 200W
Power Handling, RMS 45W
Sensitivity (2.83V/1m) 93dB
Frequency Response 55Hz – 20kHz
Mounting Depth 56mm

Please advice . Or shall i go for JBL GT5-S205 ? I am under some 5000 to 5500 budjet.

Hi ,

I too have a getz Crdi. I am running JBL's component speakers in the front powered by a amplifier.

It's not because of the loudness that the amp is required, but for the "depth" of sound. The sound quality is truly amazing. You could even fix an used amp which costs about ~ INR 1500 along with the components.

Good Luck.
