Double-DIN head unit with excellent sound quality

All of the well known SQ head units are single-DIN (Alpine 9887, Pioneer P880, Eclipse 7200, Becker Mexico, McIntosh...), but are there any double-DIN head units with similar specs?

What I was hoping for was a nice DAC (burr-brown), high voltage pre-outs, copper chassis and good tuning options.

No real need for usb ports, memory sticks etc etc. I mostly only listen to regular audio CDs.

Any ideas?

How about the Panasonic tube HU? It looks a bit old school and sounds good too.

The only problem is it's price. 35k and above.

Now that JBL is representing Panny in India we can expect to see that price drop to reasonable levels cant we?

well you could consider putting in a dvd or cd changer. or put in an eq. 10 band or so. or install a navigator device. like the garmin or blaupunkt.i personally find the mapmyindia unit cumbersome. there is a beautiful clarion i had seen a while ago online don't have the model number though.

As Zak suggested, the Panny B-tube is an awesome SQ HU. Do remember its a bit fussy with CD-Rs, its only weakness. Get one if you can find one. Panasonic only made 500 of these and last we checked, they were long gone. I don't see JB letting go of his B-tube for a long long time, so good luck finding one.

A good HU

I need a good 2 din HU for my Hyundai Verna SX. I don,t like the pre-fitted kenwood HU as I cant connect my iphone or any USB device to it and I seriously need that along with a great sound output . Any suggestions guys ? I have a budget of around 20k . I just need the HU. I have the sub and amp.

Sound Quality is pretty decent for the price. Lot of tuning options, 3 high voltage pre-outs and the works. I guess it should be available for around 22-25K without B&W. I have been using it for close to 8 months now.

The recommended panasaonic is HUGE, i doubt if it will fit in regular double din slots.

And boy, is it retro ?

could any one suggest which will be a better option
replacing stock ICE of fiesta with kenwood (for GPS navigation, bluetooth and large screen) 2 din 7" screen for around 32k or going for a MMI VX140 at 15k
but confused about replacing the existing HU as it goes nice with the machine.
