Did anyone try fitting a worldspace receiver in the empty slot. Somehow I never liked Double Din sets.

A worldspace receiver in the DIN slot?
Never thought about it for the only reason that they (WS receivers) will not function unless the Antenna is Fixed in a specific direction.

Hence, A vehicle in motion will always hamper this criterion.

Else, if one still wants to listen to WS, then the cars always needs to be in Rest, and in a specific direction

There's a whole thread on WS receivers in cars. Some people have used them in cars. Probably when the come with a car antenna, I'll think about it. My current car dosen't have a 2 DIN slot though.

My thumbdrive extension for the HU is in the empty slot, so along with thumbdrive there will be my wallet along with some petrol bills.

You could "mod" it into a CD case holder. I'd cut a hole in my M800 dash to mount a HU and later shifted it to a "console box".

Some DIY with sheet metal and the eyesore was covered and made into a CD holder.

I Just keep my remote and avoid keeping anything else in the DIN slot or the dash as i feel irritated if my car looks untidy or not kept well.
