A lot of cars these days have double DIN sized holes in the dash for a head unit, but most of the reputed head unit manufacturers (eg. Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, Clarion, JVC...) make very few double DIN head units compared to the wide variety of single DIN head units.

So, if you've installed a single DIN head unit in a double DIN slot, what do you do with the extra hole in your dashboard? Drawer? CD holder? Gauges? Voltmeter? Cupholder?

Looking for your ideas and suggestions, and any pictures if you know of or have implemented an interesting solution to this problem.

Right now, I keep some cd's , the remote and cell phone.

My portable HDD went blink once I have it fixed or get a new one, I'll get a small usb cable and keep the HDD there.

That means no more CD's Yipeee...!

my notebook with pen below scorpio's pathetic head unit.

I usually put CD’s and CD covers, some time CD cases. Though I remove them all in long drive because the empty CD cases make some noise. Some times I also put the remote to hide it from my kid.

That's the storage place for my HU's remote. It's a nice storage place for small things and it's protected from direct sunlight!!

Packed with Cds mostly, HU remote & mobile. This will end soon as I will plonk in a 2 DIN.

Mine usually has a pen and my cellphone in it.

And if there is no family member or my girlfriend , it has a ciggarette box and a lighter.

I just have my HU remote/wallet in the spare din.I like it to be empty and dust free :)

I keep my mp3 player (iaudio). also keep my bluetooth headset and my wallet in there.

i am looking for a same single din slot for keeping my things in it ,if some one knows it them let me know ..

sorry if i have posted in wrong thread

Since I stay in noida and commute to delhi everyday and sometimes use Delhi-Noida-Delhi Flyway( Toll Bridge); i keep the DND silver card( toll card)

take the aux-out wire from the 1din unit from behind, make a small hole and let it come out of the 2nd din area. you can connect your portable music player there and keep it safe there as well.

otherwise you get cup holders in a slide out tray which are designed to fit into the second din slot.

How about getting another HU to mix songs maybe.
Jokes apart it can be used to keep you ipod or any other usb device that you connect to you HU or cd's if you use a cd player.

i keep my HU's remote control and some cd covers in the empty space. and sometimes my cellphone also.

CDs, mobile or Ipod when connected to charger, half-eaten sandwich!
