Recommend a good setup for my OHC - Budget 18-20k

Hey guys! Just finalised an OHC VTEC for myself after td'ing a lot of lemons and a few fine ones. Will be taking delivery next week when I finish the payment.

I have around 18-20k to spend on my ICE, and I don't know a thing about it, so I thought I'd ask the best-suited people for good recommendations. I listen to hard-rock/heavy-metal mostly, with a bit of nu and alternative metal thrown in the mix. Bands like Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Disturbed, Spineshank, etc. Therefore, bass doesn't have to be earth-shattering, no plans of making the neighborhood go "BOOM BOOM" with my budget anyways.

Please recommend a good setup for my music taste. I will be spending on an HU, an amp, a sub-woofer and a good set of speakers (no idea if I should go in for component or co-axials considering my budget). I'll stop talking now. Thanks in advance.

HU, an amp, a sub-woofer and a good set of speakers
HU: 6K from JVC or Pio
Amp: 7K from Kenwood, Pio, JBL or Blau
Speakers: 8K for 4 Coax speakers (6" in the front and 6x9 in the rear deck).
-------
21K plus you need a little more for wires, a MDF board and labour.

Metal has little low bass but decent midbass energy and the free air 6x9 will compensate for lack of sub. If you want to add a sub you'll have to drop your rear speakers (6x9) and you will still have up your budget by about 2K.

I was scouting around for prices and noticed a "Chicago 4800W" amp costing around 5k (!). My question isn't whether its crap or not, but how crappy would it be? The retailer told me that these are quite popular and have good sound, though I took that with a fist of salt. He probably gets higher profit on this stuff.

As for my choice, I'm leaning towards the following:
Pioneer HU - around 5k
JBL coax, GTO 938 hopefully - around 5k
Blaupunkt ~800W amp - around 7-8k
JBL GT5 sub - No idea of price, should be possible to buy one within my budget once I factor in discounts that these guys give.

This should keep me happy until I spend more money on a monoblock amp and components/coaxials for the front later. I would rather have a sub right now. Are these brands good enough, or should I try other brands like Twister, etc?

1. Under 5K look at JVC they offer better VFM there
2. I dont thik you gonna get a pair of JBL coax + 938 for 5K
3. The GT4 amp is availabe for under 7K

Oh no, just GTO 938 coaxials, not 2 sets.

So a HU, an amp, 2 coaxials and 1 sub for now. Will scout around for proper product names and prices and ask more in a couple of days...

Bump. Scouted around some more. Is a basstube recommended over a sub in an enclosure, considering my music tastes? JBL basstubes are going for good prices and they look nice too.

Basstube = BOOM
Sealed box = tighter bass (if designed and built correctly).

Got the following fitted at Ramie's place a couple of days ago and liking it.

HU - Pioneer 3050
Amp - JBL GTO 504
Front Compos - JBL GTO 608C
Sub - Kicker ?? in custom made enclosure.

Ramie will be able to give more info about the actual setup including the technical details. Rear still needs something I think, for the few times that someone sits in the back seat (mostly for me though ) . Open to any and all recommendations, let's keep the budget at around 8k this time. Pics of the install will come from Ramie in a day or two hopefully, am yet to take any pics of the car myself.
