Using a multimeter to diagnose speakers wired in the wrong phase?

Does the 4 ohm figure refer to resistance in a DC circuit? (can somebody throw some light on this?)

The 4 ohm is nominal impedance. The DC resistance will be more like 2 ohms for a four ohm speaker.
