Fixing the USB port in the dash

Hello friends,

I no more have the DVD player and LCD as my last DIY.

This is not my own idea. I copied it from Satya (blueraven316)

Here's his thread

But i wanted it in a different place than the empty din slot below the music system.

So here goes the pictures.................................

Good one. Can you elaborate on the USB port used and the method to fix it securely in detail please?

I just used the female usb port provided with the HU.

the port was just pushed into the back of the plastic cover. but during testing found out that the port used to slip out of the plastic cover when the USB drive is inserted.

There was a very small gap in the plastic cover that made the port slip out. So this screw was fixed. When you firmly tighten the screw it holds the port in place. The covering of the port is soft plastic and the flat ended screw gets the grip to stay in place though there is no hole made to the port or the port covering.

I was actually lucky that the Plastic cover had the space to accommodate the USB port provided with the HU.

Was i understandable??

If i was unlucky and had a plastic covering with nothing on the back, i would have done something like this.

It was the normal USB port given with the HU :-)
